Beijing Institute of Technology was born in Yan'an in 1940. It is the first university of science and engineering founded by the Communist Party of China. It is the first batch of national key universities since the founding of the People's Republic of China. It was the first to enter the national "211 Project" and "985 Project".Approved to enter the ranks of the "world-class university" construction colleges and universities A. Comrade Mao Zedong personally inscribed the name of the school, and the older generation of proletarian revolutionaries such as Li Fuchun, Xu Teli, and Li Qiang successively served as the main leaders of the school.

 

The school is now affiliated with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and all teachers, students, and staff are facing the country’s "two centenary" goals and striving towards the goal of building a world-class university with Chinese characteristics. With wind and rain, the Beijing Institute of Technology has become stronger with the development of national education. In 1949, the school moved to Beijing; in 1952, the school was named Beijing Institute of Technology, becoming the first national defense industry academy in New China.

 

In 1988, the school was renamed the Beijing Institute of Technology. The school now has 19 professional colleges, 9 academies, as well as cutting-edge cross-science institutes, advanced structural technology institutes, medical-industrial integration institutes, and other teaching and research units. Beijing Institute of Technology's model aircraft team won the 2018 British International University Student Aircraft Design Competition for heavy-duty flight. The robot team won the ICRA 2019 RoboMaster Artificial Intelligence International Challenge Championship; the "Flying Eagle" team represented China in 2020 Mohamed Bin Zayed Champion again in the International Robot Challenge and successfully defended the title.
