Beijing Information Vocational and Technical College was established in 1954. In 1954, in order to implement my country's first five-year plan and accelerate the development of new China's electronic industry, the Second Ministry of Machinery Industry established the "North China Fourth Industrial School" in Beijing Jiuxianqiao Electronic Industrial Zone. It was named "Beijing Radio Industry School" in 1956. Since its establishment, the school has cultivated a large number of electronic technical talents for the construction of the motherland, and has made positive contributions to the development of the new China's electronic industry. It is known as the cradle of cultivating technical talents in the electronic industry. In December 1993, the then Premier of the State Council, Comrade Li Peng, wrote an inscription for the school’s 40-year celebration: "Aim for electronics and cultivate talents."
Beijing Information Technology College
In the 40 years of reform and opening up, the school has developed rapidly. In September 1999, in order to meet the needs of Beijing's social and economic development and accelerate the cultivation of information industry technology application talents, with the approval of the Ministry of Education and Beijing Municipal Education Commission, Beijing Radio Industry School and Beijing Adult Electronic Information University merged to form Beijing Vocational College of Information Technology. In 2003, Beijing Computer Industry School and Beijing Electronic Industry School, two national key technical secondary schools, were merged into Beijing Vocational College of Information Technology, and the cause of higher vocational education continued to grow.
Beijing Vocational College of Information Technology is affiliated to Beijing Electronics Holdings Co., Ltd., which is a general university in the industry. There are three campuses at the main campus (Jiuxianqiao), East Campus (Dongba) and South Campus (Huaxiang), with a total area of 350 acres, a building area of 240,000 square meters, 820 faculty members, and 500 full-time teachers. The number of students in the school is 6,500.
The college currently has six professional clusters: software and information services, communication and network engineering, electronics and automation, modern services and management, digital media design, and health management services. It mainly offers software technology, big data technology and applications, mobile application development, Internet of Things application technology, cloud computing technology and application, information security and management, communication technology, electronic information engineering technology, mechatronics technology, microelectronics technology, new energy vehicle technology, business data analysis, exhibition planning and management, marketing, 36 majors including digital media art design, film and television animation, digital display technology, health information management, and health management.
