Confucius Institute Scholarship

To meet the growing demand for Chinese language education talents from the international community, promote the development of Chinese language education around the world, and help the growth of international Chinese language education talents, the Ministry of Education's Sino-foreign Language Exchange Cooperation Center has established an International Chinese Language Teacher Scholarship (hereinafter referred to as the scholarship) to focus on Train qualified overseas Chinese teachers. Confucius Institutes, independently established Confucius Classrooms, some Chinese test sites, relevant foreign educational institutions, Chinese teachers majors in universities/Chinese departments, relevant foreign Chinese teaching industry organizations, Chinese embassies (consulates) abroad, etc. (hereinafter referred to as recommended institutions) Excellent students and in-service Chinese teachers can be recommended to Beijing Normal University to study and study Chinese and Chinese international education and other related majors.

Beijing Normal University is the host institution. The enrollment categories for the 2021 academic year include undergraduates majoring in Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (from Zhuhai campus), postgraduates majoring in Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, one-year research students, and one-semester research students.
 
 

(1) Funding target

1. Non-Chinese nationals;
2. Physical and mental health, good character, and learning;
3. Aspiring to engage in Chinese education, teaching, and related work;
4. The age is 18-35 years old (unified on September 1, 2021). In-service Chinese teachers are relaxed to 45 years old, and applicants for undergraduate scholarships are generally under 25 years old.
 
 

(2) Scholarship categories and application requirements

1. Postgraduates majoring in Chinese International Education

Enrollment in September 2021, the funding period is 2 years.
Have a university degree. A minimum score of 220 in HSK (Level 6) and 65 in HSKK (Advanced) are required in the Chinese test. Those who provide a work agreement or relevant certificates for the teaching institution to be taught after graduation are preferred.
 

2. Undergraduates majoring in Chinese as an international education (trained on Zhuhai campus)

Enrollment in September 2021, the funding period is 4 years.
Have a high school diploma. A minimum score of 210 in the HSK test (Level 4) and 60 in the HSKK (Intermediate) test.
 

3. First-grade trainees

Enrollment in September 2021, the funding period is 11 months. International students in China will not be admitted.
  • International Chinese language education, with a minimum score of 180 in the HSK test (Level 4) and an HSKK score;
  • Chinese language and literature, Chinese history, Chinese philosophy, etc., with a minimum score of 180 in the HSK test (Level 5) and 60 in the HSKK (Intermediate Level);
  • For the direction of Chinese language study, with a score of 210 in the HSK test (Level 3), those who provide HSKK scores are preferred.

 

4. First-semester trainee

Enrollment in September 2021 and March 2022, the funding period is 5 months. Those who have X1 and X2 visas in their passports are not admitted.
  • For international Chinese education, with a score of 180 in the HSK test (Level 4) and an HSKK score;
  • Chinese language and literature, Chinese history, Chinese philosophy, etc., with a score of 180 in the HSK test (Level 5), and an HSKK score.
 

5. Four lap trainees

Enrollment in July or December 2021, the funding period is 4 weeks. Those who have X1 and X2 visas in their passports are not admitted. Chinese language training, with an HSK score.
 
 

(3) Admission time and application deadline

1. Master's degree students majoring in Chinese International Education

Enrollment time: September 2021, application deadline: May 15, 2021.
 

2. Undergraduates majoring in Chinese International Education (trained on Zhuhai campus)

Enrollment time: September 2021, application deadline: May 15, 2021.
 

3. First-grade trainees

Enrollment time: September 2021, application deadline: May 15, 2021.
 

4. First-semester trainee

Enrollment time: September 2021, application deadline: May 15, 2021.
Enrollment time: March 2022, application deadline: November 15, 2021.
 
 

(4) Application process

1. Starting from March 1, 2021, applicants can register for the International Chinese Teacher Scholarship Application Official Website http://cis.chinese.cn to apply for the International Chinese Teacher Scholarship. Log on to the scholarship website to inquire about recommending institutions and receiving institutions; submit application materials online, pay attention to the application process, review opinions and scholarship review results.
 
2. Applicants must also log in to the Beijing Normal University International Student Online Service System http://apply.bnu.edu.cn, register a personal account, fill in the registration information online, and upload relevant materials. After submission, download, and print the "Beijing Normal University Foreign Student Admission Application Form", signed by the applicant and the guarantor. Please complete the online application before the project deadline, and mail all the application materials in paper form to the Admissions Office of the Academic Affairs Department of Beijing Normal University (see 8. Contact Information).
 
3. After the application materials have been reviewed by Beijing Normal University, applicants can log on to the scholarship website to check the enrollment process information and scholarship review results.

Those who have won the 2021 "International Chinese Teacher Scholarship Certificate" in various Chinese Bridge competitions, log on to the International Chinese Teacher Scholarship website and submit application materials to the target host institution with the scholarship certificate. (7) Important notice

1. Applicants must understand the admission requirements and deadlines of Beijing Normal University, and submit application materials by relevant regulations.

3. Failure to register on time, unsatisfactory entrance medical examination, dropout in the middle of school, or suspension of the scholarship will result in cancellation of scholarship qualifications.
