Undergraduate enrollment Guide

China Academy of Art (English name China Academy of Art, national standard code 10355), formerly known as the National Academy of Art, was founded in 1928. It is a comprehensive key art academy with complete disciplines and specialties jointly established by the Ministry of Culture and the Zhejiang Provincial Government. Now it is a university jointly established by the People's Government of Zhejiang Province, the Ministry of Culture, and the Ministry of Education. The national "Double First-Class" construction university and the discipline of Fine Arts have been selected as the "World-Class Discipline Construction Discipline". The school has the right to confer bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees, and has a post-doctoral research mobile station. Existing School of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Art, School of Painting Art, School of Design Art, School of Intermedia Art, School of Sculpture and Public Art, School of Film and Animation Art, School of Architecture Art, School of Arts and Humanities, School of Handcraft Art, School of Art Management and Education Wait for 10 professional colleges to recruit international students.

Zhejiang, where the school is located, is one of the most economically and culturally developed regions in China. It is located in the Nanshan campus on the bank of West Lake and the Xiangshan campus at the foot of Xiangshan Mountain. It is peaceful and beautiful and is a resort for art learning and creation. There are more than 1,000 international students from nearly 90 countries studying here.

 

1) Applicant qualifications

1. Non-Chinese citizens who are between 18 and 30 years old;

2. Non-Chinese citizens under the age of 18 (a guardian guarantee is required in China);

3. According to the "Notice Regarding the Relevant Work of Our Colleges and Universities Accepting International Students" Jiawaihan [2020] No. 12, according to Article 5 of the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China, both or one of the parents are Chinese citizens and settled in accordance with the Ministry of Education of China In a foreign country, if you have foreign nationality at birth, you do not have Chinese nationality. Starting from 2021, their application as an international student to enter the undergraduate level of our colleges and universities, in addition to meeting the school’s other registration qualifications, should also hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for more than 4 years (inclusive), and from 2017 A record of actual residence in a foreign country for more than 2 years from April 30, 2021 to April 30, 2021 (the actual residence in a foreign country for 9 months in a year can be calculated as one year, subject to entry and exit signatures ); Residents of Mainland China (Mainland), Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan who apply for admission to our colleges and universities as international students after immigrating and obtaining foreign nationality should meet the above requirements.

 

2) Student application materials

1. "Application Form for International Students Admission to China Academy of Art", applicants need to log in to the International Student Admissions System of China Academy of Art

2. The applicant's recent 3.5cm×5.3cm headless color digital photo; (Photo reference format: color 2-inch headless ID photo, white background without border, head occupies 2/3 of the photo size, photo size not less than 320*240 Pixel, the aspect ratio is 4:3, size is 100-500KB, JPG format).

3. A scanned copy of the applicant's passport.

4. The applicant has a foreign nationality at birth, and if both parents are Chinese citizens at the time of birth, or one parent is a Chinese citizen, the applicant must submit: ①The applicant obtains the foreign nationality certificate at birth; ②The applicant's proof of the cancellation of Chinese nationality Or the applicant's permanent residence certificate of the parents (a Chinese citizen) in a foreign country before the birth; ③From April 30, 2017, to April 30, 2021, there is a record of actual residence in a foreign country for more than 2 years (one year The actual residence in a foreign country for 9 months can be calculated as one year, subject to entry and exit signatures).

5. Residents of Mainland China (Mainland), Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan who immigrate to foreign countries need to submit: ① Obtain a certificate of foreign nationality before April 30, 2017; ② Certificate of cancellation of Chinese nationality; ③ From April 30, 2017, to The record of actual residence in a foreign country for more than 2 years as of April 30, 2021 (the actual residence in a foreign country for 9 months in a year can be calculated as one year, subject to entry and exit signatures).

6. Applicants under the age of 18 as of September 1, 2021, must submit: ①Guardian's letter of guarantee, the guardian must be an adult living in Hangzhou; ②A notarized copy of the power of attorney entrusted by the applicant's parents to guardianship.

7. No criminal record certificate (Chinese or English).

8. The original or notarized copy of the applicant's high school graduation certificate. For fresh high school graduates, the expected graduation certificate will be issued by the school where they are admitted, and the original or notarized copy of the high school graduation certificate (in Chinese or English) must be submitted after admission.

9. The original or notarized copy (Chinese or English) of the applicant's high school transcripts of all courses.

10. A scanned copy of a valid HSK (Chinese Proficiency Test) Level 5 certificate. (Applicants must have a score of 180 or higher in HSK Level 5, and a score of 70 or higher in a single subject of listening comprehension).

11. Applicant's professional portfolio (see: "Application for Professional Catalogue and Requirements" for detailed requirements).

12. Scanned copy of "Foreigner Physical Examination Form" (the original is kept by yourself). Applicants should strictly follow the required items in the "Foreigner Physical Examination Form" and provide a chest X-ray picture and a blood test report list. The "Foreigner Physical Examination Form" that is missing, does not have a photo of the person affixed, or the photo is not stamped with a seam seal, is not signed and stamped by the doctor and the hospital is invalid. 13. A scanned copy of the "Tuberculosis Inspection Report", the applicant must be tested for tuberculosis (Tuberculosis) in a regular hospital or testing institution. The inspection results are valid for 6 months.

14. Application fee bank remittance certificate (RMB 800 per major), each student can apply for 2 majors (classes), and the first choice is given priority. 

Note: (1) The above application fee and application materials are not refundable regardless of admission.

(2) All the above materials must be in Chinese or English. Documents in languages other than Chinese and English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.

(3) The school requires applicants to provide supplementary materials based on the situation.

3) Application time

1. From February 1, 2021, to May 31, 2021. (Applicants for Chinese Government Scholarship, please submit application materials before April 5, 2021)

2. The school’s winter vacation is from January 15, 2021, to March 7, 2021. Application materials submitted during this period will be accepted after the start of the new semester.

5) How to apply

6) Enrollment plan

It is planned to enroll 50 students, and the actual number of admissions is subject to the announcement of the school admissions committee.

 

7) Admission method

Admission and assessment implement the professional selection method of "preliminary review + interview".

After the applicant completes the online application in the International Student Admissions System of the China Academy of Art, the International Education Institute of the China Academy of Art will conduct a preliminary assessment of the applicant’s qualifications. The method of upper assessment is to carry out the basic selection in a unified manner, mainly to review the applicant's Chinese language ability, professional ability, academic research ability, etc.), and finally to comprehensively evaluate the results and select the best admission.

8) Tuition in advance

1. Send the "Pre-admission Notice" within one month after passing the interview review, and students can log in to the International Student Admissions System of China Academy of Art to check the admission process. Those who have not been admitted will not be notified separately.

2. Students who have received the "Pre-admission Notice" shall remit the prepaid tuition (first school year tuition) to our school's designated bank account (account link) within the time specified by the school

9) Expenses

1. Tuition: RMB 52,000/academic year/student (including comprehensive insurance).

2. Tuition and miscellaneous fees, etc., shall be paid when registering.

3. Accommodation fees are paid according to different standards: 500 yuan/month, 600 yuan/month, 700 yuan/month. From entering the journal to registering, the accommodation fee for one academic year shall be paid in full at one time.

 

10) Into the journal

1. Enrollment time: September 2021, the specific time is subject to the "Admission Notice".

2. Admitted applicants should bring their ordinary passports, "Admission Notice", and "Visa Application Form for Studying in China" (JW202 Form) to the Chinese Embassy (Consulate) to apply for an entry study (X1) visa.

3. Report to the China Academy of Art at the time specified in the notice. When registering for admission, you must provide the original of the official undergraduate or master's graduation certificate, degree certificate, and HSK certificate. Those who fail to obtain the corresponding certificate will be disqualified for admission. You must also submit proof of pre-payment of tuition fees when you register.

 

11) Educational System

According to the "Implementation Rules for the Management of Student Status of China Academy of Art", the undergraduate education system is 4 years (5 years for sculpture majors and architecture majors [architecture, city]). The college adheres to the policy of "lenient entry and strict exit" for international students, and according to their admitted majors (categories), they will be arranged to enter the corresponding faculties and departments to study together with Chinese students. During the academic period, if you cannot complete the academic year learning tasks according to the requirements of the department or due to health problems, you can extend the length of study according to the academic year. The maximum length of study in the school is 6 years (sculpture major, architecture major [architecture], City] is 7 years). If you still cannot complete your studies, they will be processed for completion.

 

12) Admission matters

1. The new students will be fully reviewed by the China Academy of Art within three months of enrollment. Anyone who does not meet the requirements of this brochure will be handled by the relevant regulations until the enrollment qualification or student status is canceled.

2. Plastic art, design art, image, and media art, three majors (categories) enter the professional basic teaching department regardless of major in the first academic year, and the second academic year according to the "Undergraduate Diversion Plan of China Academy of Art", The individual fills in the professional direction and will be diverted to study in related majors. If the score is unsatisfactory, they cannot be diverted according to their volunteers and must obey the school's deployment.

13) Graduation and Diploma

According to the "Implementation Rules for the Management of Foreign Undergraduates of the China Academy of Art", within the school’s prescribed school system, students must have achieved Level 5 in the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) and completed the required content of the education and teaching plan. All courses have passed the grades and obtained the corresponding total. Credits and credits for compulsory courses (including graduation creation/design and thesis defense) credits. Physical education will be allowed to graduate if the school meets the requirements of the school, and will receive a graduation certificate issued by the China Academy of Art. At the same time, those who meet the requirements of the "China Academy of Arts Degree-Granting Work Rules" will be awarded the corresponding degree certificate.

 

14) Transfer majors, transfer schools

1. Undergraduates are generally not allowed to transfer majors and schools. For details, refer to the "Detailed Rules for the Implementation of the Regulations on the Management of Undergraduate Degrees of the China Academy of Art".

2. Chinese government scholarship students: if they need to transfer, they need to give up their scholarship qualifications and go to the transferred colleges as self-financed students.
