The China Central Academy of Fine Arts is the only higher art school directly under the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China.

There are eight professional branches of Chinese Painting-School, School of Plastic Arts, School of Design, School of Architecture, School of Humanities, School of Urban Design, School of Experimental Art, School of Art Management, and Education.

As well as the Institute of Plastic Arts, the School of Continuing Education, and its affiliates. Secondary art school. The college recruits technical secondary school students (attached high school), junior college students (adult education), undergraduate students, master students, doctoral students, and various advanced students every year.

The college currently has 6425 students of various types, including 3464 undergraduates, 1161 postgraduates, 213 doctoral students, 215 international students, 917 affiliated high school students, and 455 other students. The teaching and research area of the college covers a total area of 495 mu, with a total construction area of 247,000 square meters.

The college is committed to building a modern art education discipline structure in which discipline groups such as modeling, design, architecture, and humanities support and influence each other, and play a leading role in building an art education system with Chinese characteristics in the new century, with distinctive Chinese characteristics and high standards.

His teaching quality and research results have won high praise from the international art education community, becoming a representative, leading, and exemplary art academy in the field of higher art education in China, and enjoys an important position among the world's first-class art academies.

The predecessor of the China Central Academy of Fine Arts is the National Peking College of Art. It can be traced back to the National Beijing Art School initiated by the famous educator Mr. Cai Yuanpei in 1918.

The famous art educator Zheng Jin served as the first principal. This was the first national art education institution in Chinese history, and it was also the beginning of modern art education in China.

In November 1949, the National Peking College of Art and the three fine arts departments of North China University merged. The predecessor of the three fine arts departments of North China University was the fine arts department of Yan'an Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts, established in 1938.

With the approval of the Central People's Government, the National Academy of Fine Arts was established, and Chairman Mao Zedong wrote the name of the academy. Xu Beihong served as the first dean.

In January 1950, it was officially named the Central Academy of Fine Arts with the approval of the Central People's Government Administration Council. On April 1, the inauguration ceremony of the Central Academy of Fine Arts was held at the site of Xiaowei Hutong No. 5 in Wangfujing.

In the 95 years of running a school, the Central Academy of Fine Arts has brought together a group of high-end art talents represented by masters in the Chinese art circle, forming a spectacular art education elite team.

Before the founding of New China, the Central Academy of Fine Arts attracted many famous artists to take up teaching posts during the tortuous school-running process. Among them were Chinese painting masters.

Such as Chen Sheng, Qi Baishi, Huang Binhong, Pan Tianshou, Lu Feng, Chen Zhifo, Jiang Zhao, Ye Qianyu, Fu Xinshe, Wu Jingting, Li Kuchan, Li Keran, Wang Xuetao, and other art masters and historians who have returned from studying abroad.

Such as Lin Fengmian, Xu Beihong, Wu Fading, Wen Yiduo, Teng Gu, Wu Zuoren, Chang Shuhong, Ai Qing, Pang Xunqin, Wang Linyi, You Hua Tianyou, Zhu Guangqian, etc.

A group of influential people in the literary and art circles have taught or part-time in our school, such as Yu Dafu, Zhou Zuoren, Xie Bingxin, Xiong Fuxi, Xiao Youmei, Liu Tianhua, etc., and cultivated a group of influential talents, Such as Wang Ziyun, Liu Kaiqu, Tan Zuyao, Xian Xinghai, Lei Guiyuan, Li Jianchen, Wang Manshuo, Fu Tianchou, etc.

After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the China Central Academy of Fine Arts has a large number of talents. A large number of artistic talents with progressive ideas and profound humanistic qualities have formed in our school.

This outstanding team in creation and teaching was in the Chinese art circle and the Chinese art education circle at that time. With a magnificent view, our academy has become the art academy with the strongest faculty among the national art academies.

In addition to the above-mentioned teachers mentioned before the founding of the People's Republic of China, various majors have gathered and successively trained a group of artists and art theorists who are well-known throughout the country.

Such as Chinese painting-professional Tian Shiguang, Liu Lingcang, Zong Qixiang, Li Hu, Guo Weitao, Gao Guanhua, Zhang Ding, Xiao Shufang, Li Qi, Liu Boshu, Lu Chen, Zhou Sicong, Huang Runhua, Yao Youduo, Jia Youfu, Guo Yiru, Zhang Lichen, etc.

Art History majors: Wang Xun, Wang Chaowen, Cai Yi, Chang Ren Xia, Zhang Anzhi, Jin Weinuo, Shao Dazhen, Li Chun, Bo Songnian, Tang Chi, Li Songtao, Sun Meilan, Li Shusheng, etc. These experts constitute the most outstanding art creation team and history research team in the Chinese art circle after the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Our school currently has 22 undergraduate majors, including Chinese painting, calligraphy, painting, sculpture, experimental art, visual communication design, industrial design, product design, digital media art, clothing and apparel design, photography, fine arts, art history.

Cultural industry management, architecture, landscape architecture design, film and television photography and production, environmental design, public art, animation, art management, art, and technology.

Since 2004, the college has implemented the credit system teaching management and a new teaching college calendar. There are 38 teaching weeks each year, divided into three semesters. The first semester is 20 weeks, mainly to arrange the required courses required by the school and various professional colleges.

The second semester is 10 weeks, mainly to arrange various professional courses and out-of-home teaching courses; the third semester is 8 weeks, mainly to arrange professional elective courses and public electives For courses.

Students can choose inter-professional courses independently according to their hobbies and professional development needs.

The teaching and research area of the Central Academy of Fine Arts covers a total area of 495 mu, with a total construction area of 247,000 square meters. Among them, the Wangjing campus covers an area of 205 acres with a building area of 144,000 square meters.

The Yanjiao campus covers an area of 205 acres with a building area of 68,000 square meters; the Houshayu campus covers an area of 67 acres with a building area of 29,000 square meters; the Xiaoying campus covers an area of 18 acres, construction area of 6,000 square meters.

The China Central Academy of Fine Arts has well-equipped classrooms, professional experimental workshops (laboratories), libraries, art galleries, gymnasiums, multimedia classrooms, and other teaching facilities. The professional experimental workshop (laboratory) is well-equipped and has high technical content.

Which strongly supports the professional teaching and subject construction of our college. The library is currently one of the most advanced professional art libraries in China, with a total of nearly 400,000 books. The museum has precious collections, including more than 2,000 scroll paintings from the Ming and Qing Dynasties.

The museum also regularly organizes exhibitions of the works of teachers and students of the college and undertakes art exhibitions with high academic standards at home and abroad. In addition, gymnasiums and multimedia classrooms can well meet various teaching requirements.

In addition, the Central Academy of Fine Arts publishes and distributes two national first-class academic journals, "Art Studies" and "World Art".
