[International Education College] International Volunteers|The endings we have been on the road have been written, and all the tears have started, but we suddenly forgot what kind of beginning it was, in that ancient summer that no longer returns. —— Xi Murong
From February 19th to 27th, 2019, two students Yu Yang and ACCA172 Yang Zhenyu from the 2+2 International Class of the International Education Institute set foot on the land of Sri Lanka as international volunteers.
They played with the children in the kindergarten, and photographed the black and red faces of the tea-picking women at the foot of the tea garden. They found that the divine bird in the temple always flew by the shoulders of people. In this land, they saw too much ...

We were fortunate to invite and interview Yang Zhenyu and Yu Yang to tell us the story of their international volunteers.

Q:
Are there any happy things to share with us in Sri Lanka?
A:
There are too many happy things. I was very happy when I was teaching at school. The children answered the questions loudly. Every day after class, they would hold your hand and put your hand on their forehead to say goodbye. They would chase along the road and wave to us at the intersection!
Classes are held from 10:00 to 12:00 every morning, giving them lectures and correcting them. The children are very serious.

Q:
What is the biggest feeling that this experience of international volunteers brought to you?
A:
Sri Lanka means "the land of light and prosperity" in Sinhala, and we have felt the same in these short days. In this land, not only the sunshine is bright, but also the bright smiles and gentle hearts of people. Each of us will do our best to help these lovely children.

Q:
Do you feel lonely in a foreign country like Sri Lanka?
A:
I remember that we were still a little nervous on the first day, and a little worried that we could not handle the next situation. But as soon as they got out of the car and walked into the school, the children ran back to the classroom and sat down. The teacher is also very enthusiastic and can help us with translation and Sinhala translation. It is rare to be alone, because the locals are very friendly and will give us the greatest help.

Talking about why they want to participate in the international volunteer project, the two students said: "One of the big gains of studying in the International College is that they have gained a broader international perspective. They realize that there is still a lot of need for them besides the land where they live. It is worthy of their efforts to explore.” The study life of the International College not only taught them how to learn knowledge, but more importantly, taught them how to go to the world and become responsible and responsible citizens of the world.
Expanding the international vision of students and cultivating students to become outstanding global citizens has been the direction of our school's efforts. The students of the International Academy are stepping onto the world stage, and the whole world is witnessing their growth.
International volunteers, we are always on the road; to create a world stage for the growth of international students, we will never stop.

From the International Education Institute to the world"
