Central China Normal University is located in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, a thoroughfare of nine provinces. It is located on Guizi Mountain on the shore of Nanhu Lake in Wuchang. It covers an area of more than 1.2 million square meters. It is a key comprehensive normal university directly under the Ministry of Education, a key construction university of the National “211 Project”, and a national Teacher education "985 Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform" construction colleges and universities, the first batch of national "double first-class" construction colleges and universities, is an important base for the country to train teachers and other senior professional talents in middle and higher schools.
The school has a long history of running schools. It was founded in 1903 by the University Department of Wenhua Academy (started with Wenhua Academy in 1871 and renamed Huazhong University in 1924), Chung Hwa University founded in 1912, and Zhongyuan University Education College founded in 1949. Based on the foundation, the public Huazhong University was established in 1951, restructured into Huazhong Higher Normal School in 1952, named Huazhong Normal University in 1953, renamed Huazhong Normal University in 1985, and the name of the school was inscribed by Deng Xiaoping, one of the founders of Zhongyuan University. In 1993, Comrade Jiang Zemin wrote an inscription for the 90th anniversary of the school: "Develop normal education and improve the quality of national culture." In the development of more than one hundred years, the school has not only inherited the essence of Chinese traditional culture, but also absorbed the nutrients of foreign cultures, and carried forward the tradition of revolutionary cultural education, forming the spirit of "loyal and generous, simple and resolute", and cultivated for the country More than 300,000 outstanding talents have been recruited.

The school currently has 67 scientific research institutions, laboratories, and research institutes (institutes, centers), including 3 key research bases for humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education, 1 key research base for the construction of national textbooks, and 1 collaborative innovation center jointly established by the province and the ministry. There are 35 other provincial and ministerial-level humanities and social sciences key research bases. In addition, the school has 1 national engineering laboratory, 1 national engineering technology research center, 2 national-level international joint research centers, 3 key laboratories of the Ministry of Education, and 15 other provincial and ministerial key laboratories and key research bases.
