History of the library:

The Library of China Medical University is located at No. 77 Puhe Road, Shenbei New District, Shenyang City, on the Shenbei campus of China Medical University, with a building area of 27,500 square meters. The Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University ( 36 Sanhao Street, Heping District, Shenyang City ) has a books Pavilion branch. As of the end of 2019, the collection of paper books and periodicals was 1,309,302, and 92 Chinese and foreign databases were ordered, including some of the collections of the library of Liaoning Medical University founded in 1892 and the library of Manchuria Medical University founded in 1911.


In the early 1990s, the library was recognized by the former Ministry of Health as the central library of the Northeast Region of the National Medical Literature Resource Network, the new consulting unit of the medical and health science and technology project of the Ministry of Health, and was approved by the Liaoning Provincial Department of Science and Technology and the Liaoning Provincial Technical Supervision Bureau Recognized as a medical and health science and technology project novelty consulting unit, it can provide various services such as scientific and technological project novelty consulting, document retrieval, citation analysis and interlibrary loan for users inside and outside the school.


The library is the vice-chairman of the National Medical Library Association of Higher Education, the chairman unit of the National Medical Literature Retrieval Teaching and Research Association, the vice chairman unit of the Liaoning Provincial Library Association, and the standing committee of the Liaoning Provincial University Library Working Committee.


Library resources:

The first basement and the first floor of the China Medical University Library are intensive bookstores. The 2-16 and 19th floors are the book reading rooms, with a total of 2,400 reading seats. All the books are open for reading. All reading rooms are open to readers, which can basically satisfy all the teachers. Reading needs of students. On the south side of the third floor are the electronic reading room and the reader training room. There are 198 computers for browsing and consulting various documents on the Internet, especially searching and using various resources on the campus network to carry out academic exchanges.


The library of China Medical University has rich collections. As of 2019, it has collected 7,311 professional biomedical journals and currently subscribes to 257 paper journals (including 82 foreign journals), which are compatible with Japan, Singapore, Russia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the mainland. Universities, scientific research institutions, etc. have exchanged and obtained 124 journals. German, English and Japanese medical journals were started in 1824, 1825, 1878; Chinese books 899 500, 175 900 foreign language books, foreign language paper bound volumes of periodicals 233,900 total holdings 130.9302 million copies.


The library has the right to use more than one hundred Chinese and foreign language databases and sub-libraries. Among them, 119 various databases are ordered, covering full-text journals, books, abstract retrieval, laboratory guides, medical videos, image pictures, evidence-based medicine, drug monographs, clinical trials, diagnosis and treatment guides, patient education, dissertations, etc. The type can basically meet the learning and scientific research needs of teachers and students of our school and affiliated hospitals.


Organization structure:

The library consists of the Party and Government Office, including the Circulation Department, the Reference Department, and the Resource Development Department (Acquisition and Cataloging Department); there are 33 librarians, 68 part-time- study students, and 10 non-profit students. The library 600 volunteers. On the basis of completing the routine work of the library, library staff also undertake part of the teaching tasks and practice guidance of the School of Medical Information.
