Capital Normal University was established in 1954, and its history can be traced back to Tongzhou Normal University, which was established in 1905. It is a national "double first-class" construction university and a university "co-built" by Beijing and the Ministry of Education. The school's existing disciplines cover liberal arts, sciences, engineering, management, law, education, foreign languages, art, etc. It has trained more than 200,000 senior professionals of various types for more than 60 years, and it is an important base for talent training in Beijing.

The school occupies an area of about 880,000 square meters, with a total construction area of about 757,000 square meters. The school's teaching and scientific research conditions are excellent, and the total assets of equipment for teaching and scientific research are more than 1,07.16 million yuan. The school library has a collection of more than 14.25 million books (pieces) of various books and documents and has a solid collection of foundations. It is one of the backbone libraries of literature and materials in the country. The school has a digital campus construction center, and a stable, complete and efficient campus network has been fully opened. The school is one of the universities approved by the Ministry of Education that can accept foreign students, and it is also the Beijing-Hong Kong University Alliance School. The school is the only demonstration base for studying in China awarded by the Ministry of Education among Beijing-affiliated universities. It is also a preparatory education base for undergraduate international students in China under the Chinese Government Scholarship of the Ministry of Education. It is also one of the four universities that have been selected as the first batch of "Beijing Chinese Education Base" in Beijing. One. The Affiliated High School of Capital Normal University and the Affiliated Yuxin School of Capital Normal University are experimental bases for school education and teaching reform. The Affiliated High School of Capital Normal University is the first batch of municipal key middle schools and demonstrative high schools in Beijing.

 

The school has always attached great importance to party building and ideological and political work.
