President Scholarship


Application conditions

1. Foreign nationals who apply to come to Chongqing University to study for a degree or conduct training for at least three months;

2. Physical and mental health, good character and learning, abide by Chinese laws and regulations and school discipline and school rules.

3. Have not received any other scholarships at the same time;

4. Meet the admission requirements of the applied project;

5. Submit complete, true and valid application materials on time.


Types of scholarships, application objects and funding content

Full scholarship

1. Applicants: Freshmen of foreign nationality who intend to apply to Chongqing University to study for doctoral, master and undergraduate degrees.


2. Duration of funding: the length of study determined at the time of admission.


3. Funding content:

(1) Registration fee and tuition fee are exempted;

(2) Provide free on-campus accommodation or 700 yuan/month accommodation subsidy (issued monthly);

(3) Provide living expenses (paid monthly), the standards are as follows:

Doctoral students: RMB 2,200/month

Master's degree students: 1,800 RMB/month

Undergraduate: 1,500 RMB/month

(4) Provide comprehensive medical insurance for international students.


Partial scholarship

1. Applicants: Freshmen of foreign nationalities who intend to study at Chongqing University for doctoral, master and undergraduate degrees, and freshmen of foreign nationalities who intend to study at Chongqing University for three months or more.


2. Duration of funding: the length of study determined at the time of admission


3. Funding content:

(1) Registration fee and tuition fee are exempted;

(2) Provide comprehensive medical insurance for international students.


Application materials

Applicants must truthfully fill in and submit the following paper application materials (in triplicate):

1. "President Scholarship for International Students of Chongqing University Application Form", filled out in Chinese or English.


2. A scanned copy of a valid passport photo page.


3. A copy of the highest degree certificate and transcript notarized by an official institution. If the applicant is a school student or is already employed, the original official certificate of enrollment or on-the-job certificate is also required. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with a Chinese or English translation notarized by an official notary agency.


4. Study and research plans in China, written in Chinese or English.


5. Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors, written in Chinese or English (only required for those who apply for master's or doctoral degree).


6. Copy of proof of language proficiency. Applicants for Chinese-taught majors shall provide a certificate of Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) level (level 4 and above) or equivalent Chinese language proficiency materials. Applicants for English-taught majors should provide proof of English proficiency such as TOEFL or IELTS scores (not required for native English speakers).


7. "Foreigner Physical Examination Form": This form is uniformly printed by the Chinese Health and Quarantine Department and must be filled out in English. Applicants should strictly follow the items required in the "Foreigner Physical Examination Record" for inspection. The "Foreigner Physical Examination Record" that is missing, does not have a photo of the person affixed, or the photo is not stamped with a seam seal, is not signed and stamped by the doctor and the hospital is invalid.


Regardless of whether the applicant is admitted or not, the applicant's materials will not be returned.


Deadline for application

May 31, 2018.



1. The duration of the scholarship is the same as the academic system of the admitted major, and the details are consistent with the study time specified in the admission notice and cannot be extended. Research students can only enjoy the scholarship once at most.


2. Scholarship students who study for more than one academic year must participate in the annual review. Those who have outstanding academic performance, good performance, and passed the annual review will continue to enjoy the scholarship for the next year. Those who fail the annual review will be disqualified for the scholarship.


3. After receiving the notice of scholarship, applicants should promptly report whether they accept the scholarship according to the requirements of the notice, and register at the school on time. Those who fail to register on time without reason, fail to pass the entrance examination, drop out of school, suspend their studies, or are found to have deceived or forged in the application process, will be disqualified from the scholarship.


4. The living expenses of the scholarship will be paid by the school on a monthly basis from the date of enrollment of the scholarship students. Freshmen who register before the 15th (including the 15th) of the month will receive a full-month scholarship living allowance; those who register after the 15th will receive a half-month scholarship living allowance.
