Wuhan’s public transportation offers convenient and diversified ways to travel around the city, including metros, public buses, taxis, ferries, and public bicycles, etc.

All newly-registered international students of CUG will get a student transportation card with a 100 yuan balance.

1. Wuhan Metro

There are 9 metro lines in Wuhan by the end of February 2019, covering 216 metro stations and stretching out over 319 kilometers.

The pricing policy, based on travel length and time, is as follows:

Less than 4 km: 2 yuan

4-12 km: 1 yuan / km

12-24 km: 1 yuan / 6 km

24-40 km: 1 yuan / 8 km

40-50 km: 1 yuan / 10 km

More than 50 km: 1 yuan / 20 km

The maximum limit for the time between an entry and exit of the metro is 180 min. The travels who exceed the time limit will be charged the highest one-way ticket price.

2. Wuhan Buses

Public buses in Wuhan are operated without ticket collectors. Passengers can swipe transportation cards or drop coins to pay for bus tickets. The ticket prices, based on travel length, usually vary from 1 to 3 yuan.

5. Wuhan Taxis

The minimum fare on the metered taxis is 10 yuan (for the first 2 or 3 km) + 1.8 km for every 1 km after that.
