Scholarship for foreign students in Beijing
To fully implement the policy of opening up China’s education to the outside world, actively promote the education of foreign students in Beijing, and attract outstanding foreign students and scholars to Beijing to study, research, and exchange, the Beijing Municipal People’s Government offer to foreign students who intend to study in Beijing or those who have already studied in Beijing International students provide tuition subsidies, and the Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship Program (BEIJING GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP, BGS) is specially set up.
China University of Geosciences (Beijing) is responsible for accepting applications from international students who plan to come to our school or who have already studied in our school, organize expert reviews and manage daily affairs.
1. Objects and period of funding
(1) For outstanding students pursuing a degree, the term generally does not exceed 4 academic years;
(2) Studying Chinese language or advanced students, the time limit shall not exceed one academic year;
(3) For Outstanding students and scholars who specialize in training, the time limit shall not exceed one academic year.
(4) For students with inter-school exchanges or special contributions, the time limit shall not exceed one academic year.
Generally, it is provided to students who implement inter-school exchange agreements (long-term students or students in mutual recognition programs), or students who have contributed to capital education's foreign cooperation and exchanges.
2. Scholarship content and standards
The scholarship only subsidizes the tuition fee. Students who have paid the tuition fee will be refunded according to the amount of the scholarship after receiving the scholarship. The scholarships are divided into the following five categories according to the amount of funding:
(1) Doctoral Scholarship 35,000 RMB/person/academic year.
(2) Master student scholarship is 30,000 yuan/person/academic year.
(3) Undergraduate scholarship is 20,000 RMB/person/academic year.
(4) The scholarship for senior advanced students or long-term language students is 10,000 yuan/person/academic year.
(5) Scholarship for inter-school exchange students is 5000 yuan/person/academic year.
The above subsidy can be a full subsidy of tuition fees or a half subsidy, which will be finalized based on the results of the review.
3. Applicant qualifications
(1) The applicant must be a foreign student in our school or a foreign student applying to study in our school;
(2) Applicant's educational background and age requirements:
- To apply for a bachelor’s degree, you must have a high school diploma or above, and the age should not exceed 30 years; for a master’s degree, you must have a university degree or above, and the age should not exceed 35; for a doctorate, you must have a master’s degree or above. , And have a certain academic level, the age principle should not exceed 40 years old;
- Applicants for further studies in related majors must have a degree equivalent to a university degree or should be a second-year or higher university student, and the age should not exceed 50 years old; long-term students applying for language learning should have a high school degree or above, and the age should generally not exceed 60 years old.
- Applicants for research visits must have a master's degree or higher or an associate professor or higher title, and have a certain academic level, and the age should not exceed 50 years old.
(3) Applicant's language proficiency requirements
International students applying for majors should have at least Level 4 in HSK (HSK certificate must be provided).
(4) Applicants who have received awards and funding from the Chinese government or other organizations will no longer enjoy the Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship.
4. Application channels, application time, and application materials
(1) How to apply
- Consultation can be conducted through the government departments, relevant agencies, and Chinese embassies and consulates in the country responsible for the dispatch of international students.
- You can log on to the Beijing Municipal Education Commission website (http://www.bjedu.gov.cn) for inquiries.
- Students in our school can apply directly to the International Cooperation Office.
(2) Application time
All application materials must generally be submitted to the school before March 10th each year.
(3) Application materials (all materials please provide in Chinese or English)
Applicants must truthfully fill in and submit the following application materials:
- Application Form for Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship (APPLICATION FORM FOR BEIJING GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP);
- China University of Geosciences (Beijing) Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship Application Form;
- Transcripts during school studies;
- Recommendation letter from the teacher (undergraduate) or recommendation letter from the supervisor (for graduate students);
- International students applying for majors should have at least Level 4 in HSK (a copy of the HSK certificate must be provided).
- Applicants under the age of 18 must submit relevant legal documents of their legal guardian in China;
- Articles or academic achievements published during the study period;
- The application materials submitted by the applicant will not be returned regardless of whether it is approved or not.
5. Study institutions and majors
Foreign students applying for the Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship should be outstanding international students studying in our school or foreign students applying to study in our school. All majors can apply.
6. Approval and review of scholarships
(1) The school review committee will review the application materials and submit the list of award-winning foreign students to the International Cooperation and Exchange Office of the Beijing Municipal Education Commission.
(2) When the applicant's conditions do not meet the enrollment regulations or the application materials are incomplete, the application will be deemed invalid and will not be accepted.
(3) The school shall evaluate the learning situation of scholarship students every year. Scholarship students who violated Chinese laws, violated school discipline and school rules during their studies, and did not meet the relevant regulations of Beijing Scholarship for Foreign Students will be disqualified from the scholarship.
(4) After the scholarship students have finished their studies, the accepting institutions shall make a comprehensive evaluation of them and submit them to the Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship Project Construction Leading Group for the record.
7. By-laws
(1) The research results of the Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship Program, including papers, monographs, patents, software, and databases, should be clearly marked "Beijing Foreign Student Scholarship Program Special Funding". The ownership and use of relevant intellectual property rights shall be implemented by relevant national regulations.
(2) The Beijing Municipal Education Commission, the Beijing Municipal Finance Bureau, and the International Cooperation Office of China University of Geosciences (Beijing) are responsible for the interpretation of these Measures.
(3) These Measures shall be implemented from the date of promulgation.
