China University of Mining and Technology is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education, a national "211 Project", "985 Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform Project" and a national "Double First-Class" construction university. It is also the Ministry of Education, the People's Government of Jiangsu Province, and the State Administration of Work Safety. Build universities together. The school is one of the first universities in the country with the right to grant doctorate and master's degrees. The school has a graduate school. The school is located in Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province, a national historical and cultural city known as the "Throughput of Five Provinces". It has two campuses, Wenchang and Nanhu, covering an area of more than 4,000 acres.

 

China University of Mining and Technology started from Jiaozuo Road and my School was founded by the British Fu Company in 1909. In 1931, it was renamed the Private Jiaozuo Institute of Technology. The Anti-Japanese War broke out. In 1938, it moved west to Chengdu, Shaanxi, and jointly established the National Northwest Institute of Technology with Northeastern University College of Engineering, Peking University College of Engineering, and Beiyang University College of Engineering. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, it moved back to the original location in Jiaozuo in September 1949 after several tossings. In December 1949, the Jiaozuo Institute of Technology was assigned to the leadership of the Ministry of Fuel Industry. In March 1950, it was renamed the China Mining Institute. In April 1951, the school moved from Jiaozuo to Tianjin to run a school. In 1952, the mining departments of Beiyang University, Tangshan Jiaotong University, and Tsinghua University were adjusted to the China Institute of Mining and Technology. In 1953, the school moved to Beijing and was renamed Beijing Institute of Mining and Technology, becoming one of the famous "Eight Colleges" on Beijing Xueyuan Road. During the "Cultural Revolution", the school moved to Sanhuiba Town, Hechuan County, Sichuan Province, and was renamed Sichuan Institute of Mining and Technology.

 

In 1978, the school began to relocate to Xuzhou, Jiangsu to run the school, restore the name of the China Academy of Mining and Technology, and set up the Beijing Graduate School of the China Institute of Mining and Technology on the original site of Beijing Xueyuan Road. In 1988, the school was renamed China University of Mining and Technology, and Comrade Deng Xiaoping wrote the name of the school by himself. In 1997, the Beijing Graduate School of China University of Mining and Technology was changed to the Beijing campus of the China University of Mining and Technology. In 1998, the Ministry of Coal Industry was abolished and the school was placed under the management of the State Coal Industry Bureau. In 2000, the school was transferred to the Ministry of Education as a whole. In 2003, China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing campus) was separated from China University of Mining and Technology and named China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing). So far, the China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing) has become two independent educational entities. In 2004, the school became one of the 56 universities in the country that officially had graduate schools. In 2006, it became a construction university of the "985 Advantage Discipline Innovation Platform Project", and in 2017 it became a "double first-class" discipline construction university.

 

Along with the vicissitudes of history and the vicissitudes of the times, China University of Mining and Technology has developed simultaneously with China’s industrialization process and grew up with the People’s Republic. Over 110 years, it has undergone 14 relocations and 12 name changes. The fire is passed down, and Xiang keeps on. In old China, the school regarded "education of talents and pioneers in material construction; engaged in research, seeking the independence of our country's academics" as its historical responsibility. In the new era, the school takes "developing mining, mining bright, building the motherland, and benefiting mankind" as its sacred mission. Through the hard work of generations of mining adults, the first-class brand and unique spiritual and cultural character of China's coal higher education have been created, and the campus spirit of "learning, seeking truth, innovation, hard work, and self-improvement" has been formed. The school-running philosophy of "use, learn and make excellence", and the excellent school spirit of "diligence, truth-seeking, enterprising, and dedication".

 

The construction and development of the school have received cordial care from the party and state leaders. Comrade Mao Zedong’s "Development of Mining" inscription has inspired generations of mining adults to work tirelessly for the cause; Comrade Deng Xiaoping personally instructed the school to embark on the road of Zhongxing in the reform and opening up; Comrade Jiang Zemin came to the school to inspect the scientific research work of the school and build the school for our school 90th-anniversary inscription; Comrade Hu Jintao sent a congratulatory letter for the 100th anniversary of the founding of our school; Comrade Xi Jinping attended the signing of the educational and technological cooperation agreement between the two universities and the University of Duisburg-Essen in Germany; Comrade Jia Qinglin attended as Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference The opening ceremony of the Tourism Confucius Institute jointly organized by the University and Griffith University of Australia. Successive leaders of the Ministry of Education such as Chen Zhili, Zhou Ji, Yuan Guiren, Chen Baosheng, Chen Xi, Weng Tiehui have also been concerned about the development of the school.

 

China University of Mining and Technology, as the only high-level university with distinctive characteristics named after mining in the country today, with the support of higher authorities, the coal energy industry and all sectors of society, through long-term development and construction, has formed a major engineering and mining industry, Science, Engineering, Culture, Management and other multi-disciplinary coordinated development of disciplines and professional systems and the basic structure of multi-disciplinary universities. In the exploration, development, utilization of coal energy, resources, environment, and production-related mining construction, safety, surveying and mapping, machinery, information technology, ecological restoration, management engineering, and other fields have formed superior brands and distinctive features. The school has 22 colleges and two independent colleges, Xuhui College and Yinchuan College.

 

The school currently has 67 undergraduate majors, 33 first-level discipline master's programs, 18 professional degree authorization points, 17 first-level discipline doctoral programs, 16 post-doctoral research mobile stations; 1 first-level discipline national key discipline, 8 Second-level national key disciplines, 1 national key (cultivation) discipline; 6 "13th Five-Year" provincial key disciplines, 6 "Jiangsu University Advantage Discipline Construction Project" project disciplines. In the fourth round of discipline assessment conducted by the Ministry of Education in 2017, the two disciplines of mining engineering, safety science, and engineering were rated as A+, and the two disciplines of surveying and mapping science and technology, geological resources, and geological engineering were rated as A-. Eight disciplines including engineering, earth sciences, materials science, chemistry, mathematics, environment and ecology, computer science, and social science have entered the top 1% of the ESI world, of which engineering has entered the top 1‰.

 

The school has a high-level teaching staff with more than 3,200 faculty members. Among the 1989 full-time teachers, 486 were employed for high-level positions, 862 were employed for associate high-level positions, 473 were doctoral supervisors, 1,387 were master supervisors, and 1,612 teachers had doctoral degrees, accounting for 81%. Among the faculty, there are 4 national-level teaching teams, 3 innovation research groups from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, 4 innovation teams from the Ministry of Education, and 6 outstanding science and technology innovation teams from Jiangsu Higher Education Institutions.

 

There are 15 academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Sciences (including external recruitment), 10 of them have been awarded the National Science Fund for Outstanding Youth, 6 have been selected by the National "Ten Thousand Talents Program", 5 have been awarded by the National Science Fund for Outstanding Young People, and 9 have been selected by the National "Millions of Talents Project "Cultivation objects, 24 people were selected for other national key talent projects, 5 people were rated as national-level teaching teachers, 1 person was awarded the first China Young Scientist Award, 12 people were rated as national and young experts with outstanding contributions, 33 people were entitled to the State Council Of the special government allowances awarded, 3 were rated as "National Model Teachers", 5 were rated as "National Excellent Teachers", 4 were awarded the National May 1st Labor Medal, 1 was awarded the Second Outstanding Teaching Award, and 1 was awarded He Liang Heli Foundation Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 person won the second scientific exploration award, 9 people won the Sun Yueqi Energy Award, 13 people won the China Youth Science and Technology Award, 3 people won the Guanghua Engineering Science and Technology Award "Youth Award", 7 people won the National Excellent Science and Technology Award Workers, 3 people were rated as "National Excellent Postdoctoral Fellows".

 

The school always adheres to the principle of educating people and is committed to cultivating high-quality talents with comprehensive development of morality, intelligence, and physical, full of social responsibility, innovative spirit, and practical ability. Actively promote the reform of education and teaching, and the teaching results have been fruitful. The school uses Sun Yueqi College as the carrier to further improve the talent training model and establish a green channel for top talent training and personalized education. Since the establishment of the school, more than 340,000 graduates have been sent to the country and society. Many of them have grown into scientific and technological elites, management backbones, and leaders in national modernization and industry development. Since 2002, the school has successively won 8 national teaching achievement awards and completed 22 national quality courses, national quality resource sharing courses, national quality video open courses, and national quality online open courses. 11 textbooks were selected for the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" National planning textbook. It has 24 national-level first-class undergraduate professional construction sites, 11 "Ministry of Education Outstanding Engineer Program Pilot Programs" and 3 Ministry of Education comprehensive reform pilot programs. It has 3 national experimental teaching demonstration centers, 2 national simulation experiment teaching centers, and 1 national talent training model innovation experimental zone. The school was selected as a project university of the "National Undergraduate Innovative Experimental Program" and a pilot university of the "Excellent Engineer Education and Training Program".

 

The establishment of a national colleges and universities practice education innovation and entrepreneurship base and a national university student science and technology entrepreneurship practice base. Sixteen doctoral dissertations have been selected as one of the national one hundred outstanding doctoral dissertations. The school has successively been rated as the National and Jiangsu Province Graduate Employment Advanced Collective, the National Innovation and Entrepreneurship Model Experience College, and the Jiangsu Province Entrepreneurship Education Model School. In 2012, it was awarded the title of "National Employment Advanced Work Unit" by the State Council. At present, the school has more than 23,600 full-time general undergraduates, more than 14,300 master's and doctoral students, and more than 750 international students.

 

Focusing on the core tasks of talent training and the strategic needs of the country and the industry, the school is committed to scientific research, improving the school's innovation capabilities, and has achieved a large number of high-level scientific and technological achievements. Since the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan", it has undertaken 1,627 national-level scientific research projects, including the national "863 Program", "973 Program", National Science and Technology Major Projects, Key R&D Programs, and National Natural Science Foundation of China, and 973 provincial and ministerial-level scientific research projects. ; Won 35 national science and technology awards, the number of awards ranked among the top universities in the country; won 361 provincial and ministerial science and technology awards; authorized 9,925 domestic patents (including 4,553 invention patents), and authorized 698 overseas invention patents. The school's research and development funding is growing rapidly, and the current average annual scientific research funding is more than 500 million yuan.

 

The school has built a complete high-level scientific and technological innovation platform, with 2 national key laboratories, 1 national engineering technology research center, 1 national engineering research center, 1 national and local joint engineering laboratory, and 1 provincial and ministerial joint construction and collaboration Innovation Center, 4 Key Laboratories of the Ministry of Education, 3 Engineering Research Centers of the Ministry of Education, 1 Field Scientific Observation and Research Station of the Ministry of Education, 22 other provincial and ministerial key laboratories, engineering (technical) research centers (including research bases) , 2 provincial-level collaborative innovation centers, established five directly affiliated scientific research institutions, namely, Low-Carbon Energy Research Institute, Internet of Things (Perception Mine) Research Center, Sustainable Energy Research Institute, Energy Resource Strategic Development Research Institute, and Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, and Xuzhou Ecological Civilization Construction Research Institute and other three foreign cooperative scientific research platforms. A national university science and technology park was built, and was selected as the first batch of "National Intellectual Property Demonstration Universities". The school library has a collection of more than 2.88 million books, and 17.68 million digital books and periodicals, which are selected by the National Intellectual Property Information Service Center of universities. The construction of smart campuses continues to move forward. The China Coal Science and Technology Museum (Mining Safety Museum) receives more than 14,000 visitors from all walks of life every year.

 

The school actively leverages its own advantages, serves industry talent training, scientific and technological progress, and local economic and social development, and promotes collaborative innovation of industry, university and research. The school uses the school board as a platform to vigorously promote social services. The school board member units have grown to 152, and the comprehensive cooperation units have reached 109. It has established a comprehensive cooperative relationship with 1 provincial-level people’s government and 12 prefecture-level people’s governments. Large state-owned enterprises have jointly established research institutions. The National University Science Park of China University of Mining and Technology was awarded as the only "Class A (Excellent) National University Science Park" in Jiangsu Province; the Sino-German Energy and Mining Ecological Environment Research Center was hailed as "a model of Sino-German scientific and technological cooperation." The school has undertaken the task of training 10,000 coal mine chief engineers during the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period of the State Administration of Work Safety, and its influence in the coal industry has increased significantly.

 

The school actively carries out international exchanges and cooperation, continuously promotes international schooling, and has established partnerships with nearly a hundred foreign universities. The "International Mining, Energy and Environmental Higher Education Alliance" was established in conjunction with more than 20 foreign universities, and it has been upgraded to international cooperation and exchange platform for the "Belt and Road". Joined the UNESCO "International Mining Engineering Education Competence Center" and became the flagship university of the center. The "China-Pakistan Center of Excellence in Mineral Resources" and the "China-Ecuador Mining Institute" were jointly established in Pakistan and Ecuador. Founded the "Confucius Institute for Tourism" at Griffith University in Australia. Won the first batch of "high-level international talent training and innovation practice bases" in the country. Actively host and host "International Mining Science and Technology Conference", "International Conference on Energy, Resources, Environment, and Sustainable Development", "International Conference on Green Mining Theory and Practice", "International Pittsburgh Coal Conference", and other international academic conferences with international influence. The exchanges are becoming more and more active.

 

The roots are deep and flowing from afar, and the same goes for the good and the sky. The 14th Party Congress of China University of Mining and Technology put forward the goal of the new era: to build our school into a world-class university with energy resources characteristics by the middle of this century.
