Chinese Government Scholarship

In order to enhance the mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese people and the people of the world, and to develop exchanges and cooperation between China and other countries in various fields, the Chinese government has established scholarships to subsidize outstanding students, teachers, and scholars from all over the world to study or conduct research in Chinese universities. The Ministry of Education of China has entrusted the China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as the "China Scholarship Council") to be responsible for the enrollment and management of Chinese government scholarship students. There are currently 279 Chinese universities undertaking the task of cultivating Chinese government scholarship students. Disciplines cover science, engineering, agriculture, medicine, economics, law, management, education, history, literature, philosophy, art, etc.

Note: The first category includes: philosophy, economics, law, pedagogy, literature (except literature and art), history, and management; the second category includes science, engineering, and agriculture; the third category includes: literature (literary and artistic), medicine.

 

(2) Applicant qualifications

1. Non-Chinese citizens, in good health;

2. Educational background and age requirements:

●Applicants who come to China to study undergraduate majors must have a high school diploma, excellent grades, and be under the age of 25;

●Applicants who come to China to study for a master's degree must have a bachelor's degree and be under the age of 35;

●Applicants who come to China to study for a doctoral degree must have a master's degree and be under 40 years old;

●As a general scholar who comes to China to study, he must have a high school diploma or above, and he must be under 45 years old;

●Senior advanced students who come to China to study must have a master's degree or above or associate professor or above, and be under 50 years old.

 

(3) Application process/approach

1. Submit an application to the international student dispatching department of your home country and obtain the qualification for recommendation;

2. Contact the scholarship institution and get the pre-admission notice issued by the school;

3. Log in to the "CSC Online Application System for Studying in China", fill out and submit the application information online, and print the "Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form". The operating instructions of the "China Scholarship Council Online Application System for Studying in China" and the "Accepting Agency Number" can be consulted and obtained from the overseas student dispatching department of your country. The code of the China University of Petroleum is 11414, which is required after completing the online application for studying in China by the China Scholarship Council Fill in the application in the admissions registration system of China University of Petroleum, and the application website is admission.cup.edu.cn;

4. Submit the application materials to the international student dispatching department of your home country within the specified time.

Note: The China Scholarship Council does not accept direct applications from individuals. The China Scholarship Council reserves the right to make necessary adjustments to the institutions of applicants who have not received the pre-admission notice.

 

(4) Required materials for application

1. "Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form" (Chinese or English);

2. Notarized highest education certificate. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations. Students in school must submit a certificate of enrollment issued by their school;

3. Academic transcripts. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations;

4. Study or research plan in China. Write in Chinese or English. No less than 200 words for undergraduate students, no less than 500 words for advanced students, and no less than 800 words for graduate students;

5. Letter of recommendation. Applicants for master's and doctoral degrees and those who apply to study in China as advanced scholars must submit two letters of recommendation from professors or associate professors, written in Chinese or English;

6. Students applying for music majors must submit CDs of their own works; students applying for fine arts majors must provide 2 sketches, 2 color paintings, and 2 CDs of other works;

7. Applicants under the age of 18 must submit relevant legal documents of their legal guardian in China;

8. Applicants who have studied in China for more than 6 months must submit a copy of the "Foreigner Physical Examination Form" (the original is kept by yourself, this form is uniformly printed by the Chinese Health and Quarantine Department, and you can log on to the CSC website HTTP:/ /www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or http://www.campuschina.org, it must be filled in English). Applicants should strictly follow the required items in the "Physical Examination Form for Foreigners" to conduct inspections. The "Foreigner Physical Examination Form" that is missing, does not have a photo of the person affixed, or the photo is not stamped with a seam seal, is not signed and stamped by the doctor and the hospital is invalid. In view of the fact that the examination result is valid for 6 months, the applicant is requested to determine the time for the physical examination accordingly;

9. If you have obtained the pre-admission notice from the scholarship institution, please attach a copy of the admission notice to the application materials;

10. If you have obtained the HSK score report, please attach a copy to the application materials.

The above materials should be bound into a book (two volumes in one type) in the upper left corner in the order mentioned above. No matter whether you are admitted or not, the application materials will not be returned.
