1. How should I apply for a visa to study in the Capital University of Physical Education and Sports?

International students should apply for an "X" visa or "F" visa at the Chinese Embassy or Consulate-General to study in China with the original documents and one set of photocopies of the:

(1) Visa Application for Study In China (JW201 or JW202),

(2)Admission Notice,

(3)Foreigner Physical Examination Form,

(4)A valid ordinary passport.

International students must enter China with the original copies of the above documents. A person coming to China with other types of passports, visas or without the original documents will not be able to register with the institution, nor will they be able to apply for residence in China.

X (study) visas are issued to those coming to China for study or an internship for a period of more than six months. 

F (business) visas are issued to those invited to China to do business or study for a period of fewer than six months. 

Students organized in form of groups and who stay less than 6 months can apply for the F group visas by the authorized invitation letters or fax of the duly authorized unit.

International students should apply for Residence Permit for Foreigners from the division of exit-entry administration of the local public security bureau within thirty days upon arrival in China.

2. What health verification should be presented if I want to go to China to study at Capital University of Physical Education and Sports?

After arriving in China, international students are required to go to the Health quarantine bureau to confirm the Physical Examination Record for Foreigners within the prescribed time limit. Students failing to provide a Physical Examination Record for Foreigners must have a physical examination at the local Health Quarantine Bureau. If the student is diagnosed to have any disease the laws prohibit entry in China, he/she must return to his/her country at his own expense.

3. How are health verification and residence permit applied for to study at Capital University of Physical Education and Sports?

Health verification: Scholarship students who are to stay in China for more than 6 months are requested to bring their passports, Admission Notice, the original Foreigner Physical Examination Form and the Blood Test Report to the local health and quarantine office within the due time to have their medical examination reports verified. Scholarship students who do not meet the requirements of the above authority will be required to re-take the medical examination. Those who refuse to re-take the medical examination or are diagnosed with diseases that are not permitted to stay in China according to the Chinese laws and regulations will be required to leave China.

Residence Permit: After the health verification, the scholarship students must apply for a residence permit to the local police authority with their passports, Admission Notice and Visa Application Form for Study in China (JW201) within 30 days upon their arrival.

Note: Expenses incurred in the procedures above shall be borne by the scholarship students themselves.

4. I have already bought insurance in America. Do I need to buy insurance again in China to study at Capital University of Physical Education and Sports?

International students are required to buy both medical insurance and personal accidental death and injury insurance. You can buy them either in your own country or in China after your arrival.

5. How can I get the latest information about the Chinese Government Scholarship?

Please visit our website www.campuschina.org or www.csc.edu.cn/laihua for up-to-date information. You can also consult the Chinese Embassy (or Consulate General) in your home countries or designated Chinese universities for related information.

6. What programs can I apply for? When and where can I apply?

Usually, the application season is between January and early April. Applicants should apply and send the required documents to the application receiving agencies. The table below illustrates the Chinese Government Scholarship programs.

7. Can applicants apply for a Chinese Government Scholarship without Admission Letters?

Yes. Applicants without Admission Letter are equally allowed to apply for a Chinese Government Scholarship. However, CSC reserves the right to make necessary adjustments on the university options, specialties, program categories and duration of study for the applications without Admission Letters. Applications enclosed with Admission Letter will be forwarded directly to the host universities for recruitment confirmation.

8. Is the Letter of Acceptance or email from the supervisor admissible?

Only the official Admission Letters from the admissions department of Chinese universities are valid. Other files like acceptance letters or emails from supervisors or professors shall not be regarded as the equivalent or substitute.

9. Where can I get the Agency Number?

Agency Number is the first required item when applying online at CSC Online Application System for International Students(http://laihua.csc.edu.cn). Each Agency Number stands for a specific application receiving agency and will be given to the recommended candidates only. A correct Agency Number will lead to the presence of the corresponding application receiving agency. The wrong Agency Number will lead to application rejection.

10. How can I log in to the CSC Online Application System for International Students?

① Go to www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or www.campuschina.org and click the icon "Application Online for International Students" to enter the system.

② First-time users should register before entering the online application page.

③ Please use Internet Explorer (6.0 or 7.0). Menu selection functions may not work in other browsers.

11. What do I need to pay special attention to when applying online?

① Please select the program, CHINESE GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIP.

② The item Apply for refers to the program you want to apply to rather than the degree you have already held.

③Majors should be one of the existing majors offered by Chinese universities and be based on your actual educational background. A nonexistent or improper major input will affect your application result.

④Preference of Institutions must be chosen from 252 Chinese universities designated by MOE. Any institution beyond the list will not be available for recruitment.

⑤Duration of the Major Study should match the program you apply for. Please check the APPLICATION DETAILS of each program for the specific schooling period.

⑥ Submitted applications can be retrieved for revision. Once retrieved, the previously submitted application becomes invalid. Therefore, a revised application should be submitted one more time.

12. How to write a Study Plan or Research Proposal?

A Study Plan or Research Proposal states in detail what you are going to do with the scholarship in China. It must include such information as the major you want to study in or the field of your research interest. It is of vital importance for those applicants for graduate studies or senior scholar programs, so please make sure your study plan or research proposal states that information as specific as possible.

13. What supporting documents should be included in my application package?

Generally, applicants must fill in and provide the following documents truly, correctly and completely (in duplicate).

①Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship（in Chinese or English）

② Notarized highest diploma (photocopy)

③ Academic transcripts

④ A study plan or research proposal

⑤ Recommendation letters

⑥Applicants for music studies are requested to submit a CD of the applicants' own works. Applicants for fine arts programs must submit a CD of the applicants' own works (including two sketches, two color paintings and two other works)

⑦Applicants under the age of 18 should submit the valid documents of their legal guardians in China.

⑧Applicants planning to stay in China for more than 6 months must submit a photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form( valid for 6 months).

⑨Applicants with Admission Letter from designated universities should enclose the letter in the application package.

⑩Applicants with valid HSK Certificates should enclose them in the application package.

The above documents should be bound on the top left corner (in duplicate) in order. No application documents will be returned.

14. Are scholarship recipients obliged to take Chinese-taught programs?

① Chinese is the only instruction language for undergraduate programs. Scholarship recipients of undergraduate programs must take preparatory courses in designated universities for one year and pass the required test before major studies. Failure to pass the required test leads to the automatic termination of their scholarship.

② Most graduate programs and non-degree programs are instructed in Chinese. Certain Chinese universities offer English-taught programs. Please check the Directory of the Chinese Institutions Admitting International Students under the Chinese Government Scholarship Program for program introduction. Scholarship recipients of Chinese-taught programs without adequate Chinese language proficiency must take Chinese language training courses for one to two years to reach the language requirements of their host universities before major studies. Failure to reach the required language proficiency will lead to the termination of scholarship. Recipients in such programs as science, engineering, agriculture, west medicine, economics, management, law and arts will take Chinese courses for one year. Recipients in literature, history, philosophy and Chinese medicine will take Chinese courses for no more than two years. Recipients of English-taught programs or those with adequate Chinese language capability do not need to take Chinese language training courses.

15. Which Chinese universities offer Chinese Government Scholarship programs?

A total of 252 Chinese universities are designated by MOE to accept Chinese Government Scholarship students. Applicants can only choose their host universities from this list. Please check the Directory of the Chinese Institutions Admitting International Students under the Chinese Government Scholarship Program on www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or www.campuschina.org for introduction to programs and universities available.

16. Can applicants directly apply to Chinese universities for a Chinese Government Scholarship?

Only Chinese universities undertaking Chinese University programs can accept the scholarship application directly. A-List of Designated Chinese Universities Undertaking This Program can be found at the end of application DETAILS of Chinese Government Scholarship—Chinese University Program.

17. Can applicants apply for more than one program?

Yes. However, CSC reserves the right to award only one scholarship to each applicant nominated by more than one university.

18. How can I know the admission result of Capital University of Physical Education and Sports?

The admission result will be announced by the application receiving agencies in late July. Applicants can consult the application receiving agencies for admission results.

19. Why is the host university sometimes not the target university?

For the applicants without Admission Letter, CSC reserves the right to make necessary adjustments on the university options, specialties, program categories and duration of study based on the scholarship requirement of different countries, accepting capacity of universities, requirements of different programs and the qualification of applicants. That's why some applicants are enrolled by a university beyond their application options.

20. How can I go to my host university that is not in Beijing to study in Capital University of Physical Education and Sports?

CSC provides a transfer service to new full scholarship students who have to make a stopover in Beijing to other cities during August 25th and September 15th. Pickup service at Beijing Airport, free accommodation on campus and hard-seat train ticket (or hard-berth train ticket for overnight trip) from Beijing to the city of the host institution will be provided to full scholarship students.

21. How to register for accommodation studying in Capital University of Physical Education and Sports?

Foreigners who live in China shall, in accordance with the provisions of law, register their accommodation. Within 24 hours after arriving in China, the person who stays, the institution or himself holds the passport of the lodger and the residence book of the lodger shall report to the local public security organ and fill in the temporary accommodation registration form.

If you live in the international student apartment of capital sports college, the front desk of the apartment will help you upload or update it. You only need to go to the service desk with your passport in time.

If you live outside the school, you must go to the police station in the jurisdiction where you live to apply for the temporary residence registration form in time, and you need to go with the landlord with relevant certificates.

It is important to note that international students who change their passports, visas or address must re-register their accommodation within 10 days, otherwise they will be considered an illegal residence.

22. What should I do if I lose my passport when studying in Capital University of Physical Education and Sports?

After the students find and confirm the loss of their passports, they must immediately follow the following procedures to minimize the loss.

• The overseas students shall report the case to the police station in the place where they lost the case with valid certificates and receive the loss report certificate;
• Get relevant certification letter at the office of international students;
• The passport loss certificate issued by the police station and the letter issued by the international student office shall go to the entry and Exit Administration Office of Beijing Public Security Bureau to issue the passport loss certificate;
• Go to the Embassy of China to apply for a new passport with the certificate of passport loss;
• After receiving the new passport, the international students must apply to the office of the international students within 10 days after obtaining the passport, then go to the entry and Exit Administration Office of Beijing Public Security Bureau to go through the formalities of visa or residence certificate supplement, and timely handle the renewal of the accommodation registration.
