17. What should I do if I lose my passport while studying at East China Normal University?

If you have lost your passport in mainland China, please consult the International Students Office immediately regarding passport and visa reissue. In general, the procedures you need to go through are:

(1) Call the police at the local police station where the passport is lost and go through the procedures for reporting the loss;

(2) Go to the International Students Office to explain the situation, and issue a certificate of enrollment and an explanation of the loss;

(3) Go through relevant registration procedures at Shanghai Exit-Entry Administration Bureau;

(4) Apply for a new passport at the embassy or consulate of your country in China;

(5) After getting a new passport, go to the International Students Office to issue new visa application materials;

(6) Apply for a new visa at the Shanghai Exit-Entry Administration Bureau.

Please pay special attention: if you lose your passport, you should apply for a new visa with the loss report and a new passport within one month after the registration of the loss with the Exit-Entry Administration Bureau. Those who fail to obtain a new passport within one month shall re-register with the Exit-Entry Administration Bureau with the registration form for reporting the loss within one month. Those who do not apply for a new visa or re-register after the expiry date will be deemed to have expired!

 

18. What should I do if my passport expired while studying at East China Normal University?

If your old passport is about to expire, please contact your embassy or consulate in China in time to apply for a new passport, and be sure to go to the International Students Office to handle visa changes within 10 days after the new passport is issued.

Please pay special attention, please take your old passport with you when you go through the change procedures. If your old passport has been taken back by the embassy or consulate, please keep a copy of the photo page of your old passport and the copy of your most recent visa in advance!

 

19. During my studies at East China Normal University, what are the consequences of my passport expired?

The Chinese government has very strict management of foreigners' visas in China. Once the visa expires, you will be fined 500 yuan per day, up to 10,000 yuan; if the circumstances are serious, you will be detained or asked to leave China!

 

20. My family wants to come to East China Normal University to visit me, what should they do?

If your parents, wife (husband), and children under the age of 18 need to come to China to visit relatives and live with you, they can apply for a family visa to come to China. If family members need to stay in China for valid reasons after their visas expire, they can apply to the Shanghai Exit-Entry Administration Bureau to extend their family members' visas.

22. Can I bring staff from other schools to the dormitory of East China Normal University?

Visitors can be received in the dormitory during visitor hours (8:00-22:00).
