Application conditions

1. Non-Chinese citizens who hold a valid foreign passport.

2. Possess an academic qualification equivalent to a Chinese bachelor's degree or above.

3. To apply for a Chinese-taught major, you must pass the new HSK-5 level (210 points or more) or HSK-6 level (180 points or more). Applicants for English-taught programs should provide a valid English language proficiency certificate or an English-taught program study experience certificate (see the application materials for details). Applicants whose mother tongue is English do not need to provide proof of English proficiency.


Application materials

1. East China Normal University International Student Admission Application Form

Please log in to the online application system (http://lxsapply.ecnu.edu.cn) to fill in and print the application form online;


2. Bachelor degree or above certificate

① A scanned copy of the original, if not in Chinese or English, a notarized Chinese or English translation shall be provided;

② Fresh graduates provide expected graduation certificate when applying (the expected time to obtain the degree certificate should be earlier than August 31, 2021), and the graduation certificate and degree certificate must be supplemented when registering;


3. Complete official transcript (undergraduate degree or above)

A notarized copy of the original or photocopy, if not in Chinese or English, a notarized Chinese or English translation must be provided;


4. Proof of language proficiency

① Teaching in Chinese: HSK certificate within the valid period (2 years) (210 points for HSK level 5 or more than 180 points for HSK level 6).

* Applicants who complete an undergraduate or master's studies in Chinese must provide a certificate issued by the school they graduated from. After obtaining the permission of the applied department, they can be exempted from submitting the HSK score certificate.

② English-taught: provide English language test certificate or provide proof of learning experience of English-taught program

*If you take the TOEFL test, you can choose to send your scores directly to East China Normal University. The code for East China Normal University is C304.

b) English-taught project learning experience

♦ The teaching and examination language of the bachelor's or master's degree obtained is English;

♦ The learning unit provides an official certificate printed on official letterhead. The certificate of English teaching must be issued by the school-level department, such as the registration office and academic affairs office.

*If the applicant does not have the relevant proof of English proficiency, please take the relevant English language test as soon as possible.


5. Study and Research Program in China

Word count: more than 800 words;

Language: Chinese (for majors taught in Chinese) or English (for majors taught in English);

Content: Including but not limited to personal study and work experience, academic research results, master's research plan, personal development goals after graduation, etc.;


6. Two letters of recommendation

The recommender must be an associate professor or a scholar with a corresponding title or above, or a senior professional in the relevant industry. Written in Chinese or English, the recommendation letter should be issued later than September 1, 2020. The recommendation letter must include the following information: the recommender's title, work unit, contact number, email, and the recommender's signature.


7. Photocopy of passport (including personal information page and visa page)


8. Physical examination report within the validity period (six months)

Applicants should strictly follow the required items in the "Foreigner Physical Examination Form" and provide a detailed report of the blood test, missing items, no photos of themselves, or no stamps on the photos, and no signatures and seals of the doctors and hospitals. "Foreigner Physical Examination Form" is invalid.


9. Proof of no criminal record (notarized Chinese or English translation is required for non-Chinese or English)

12. Students applying for a master's degree in Chinese International Education also need to provide:

① HSKK certificate (Intermediate level 60 points or more)

② An essay related to the major of Chinese International Education (about 1000 words)


Application process

1. Online application

Log in to the online application system for international students of East China Normal University http://lxsapply.ecnu.edu.cn, please register and fill in the application, upload the relevant application materials, and pay the

application fee of 800 yuan online. Note that once the application fee is successfully paid, it will not be refunded.

*If applying for the scholarship program, please fill in the application information on the relevant scholarship application website at the same time.


2. To submit paper application materials, please submit all original application materials to the following address before the application deadline:

Regardless of whether the applicant is admitted or not, the paper application materials will not be returned.


3. To track the application status online, please follow your email or log in to your account registered on the East China Normal University application website to check the application progress and status.

*Please make sure your email address is correct and check your email regularly, otherwise you may miss important information (such as interview time, etc.)


4. For admission and admission, you can check the admission results in the International Student Online Application System of East China Normal University. Admitted students must register and register at the school in strict accordance with the time specified in the admission notice. The original graduation certificate and degree certificate will be verified when registering. Those who fail to obtain the corresponding certificate will be disqualified for admission.

1. Applicants should ensure that the application information and application materials provided are true and accurate. Once the admissions unit or certification department verifies that they are not true, they will not be admitted or disqualified.


2. After a student is admitted, he cannot register at two schools at the same time. Once verified, the student status will be canceled.
