Application conditions

1. Non-Chinese citizens who hold a valid foreign passport.

2. Have an educational background equivalent to a Chinese master's degree or above.

3. To apply for majors taught in Chinese, you must pass the new HSK-5 level (210 points or more). Applicants for English-taught programs should provide a valid English language proficiency certificate or an English-taught program study experience certificate (see the application materials for details). Applicants whose mother tongue is English do not need to provide proof of English proficiency.

Application materials

1. East China Normal University International Student Admission Application Form

Please log in to the online application system ( http://lxsapply.ecnu.edu.cn ) to fill in and print the application form online;

2. Undergraduate and master's graduation certificates and degree certificates

A scanned copy of the original, if not in Chinese or English, a notarized Chinese or English translation must be provided.

Fresh graduates should provide the expected graduation certificate when applying (the expected time to obtain the degree certificate should be earlier than August 31, 2021), and the graduation certificate and degree certificate must be supplemented when registering;

3. Transcripts (all courses taken at the undergraduate and master's level)

A notarized copy of the original or photocopy, if not in Chinese or English, a notarized Chinese or English translation must be provided;

4. Proof of language proficiency

①Teaching in Chinese: HSK certificate within the validity period (2 years) (210 points or more for HSK level 5 or HSK6 and 180 points or more)

* Applicants who complete an undergraduate or master's studies in Chinese must provide a certificate issued by the school they graduated from. After obtaining the permission of the applied department, they can be exempted from submitting the HSK score certificate.

②English-taught: provide English language test certificate or English-taught project learning experience certificate

a) English language test

*If you take the TOEFL test, you can choose to send your scores directly to East China Normal University. The code for East China Normal University is C304.

b) English-taught project learning experience

•  The teaching and examination language for the bachelor's or master's degree obtained is English;
•  The learning unit provides an official certificate printed on official letterhead. The certificate of teaching in English must be issued by the school-level department, such as the registration office and graduate school.

*If the applicant does not have the relevant proof of English proficiency, please take the relevant English language test as soon as possible.

5. The recommender must be an associate professor or a scholar with a corresponding title or above, or a senior professional in the relevant industry.

Written in Chinese or English, the date of issuance of the recommendation letter should be later than September 1, 2020. The recommendation letter must contain the following information: the recommender's title, work unit, contact number, email, and the recommender's signature;

6. Research plan in China

Words: Ph.D. 1500 words or more;

Language: Chinese (for majors taught in Chinese) or English (for majors taught in English);

Content: Including but not limited to personal study and work experience, academic research results, research plan at the doctoral level, personal development goals after graduation, etc.;

7. Personal research results

Catalogs and abstracts of published academic articles, other original research results; abstract pages of master's thesis (Master's thesis does not need to provide the full text, only the abstract page)

8. Copy of passport (personal information page and visa page)

9. Physical examination report within the validity period (six months) 

Applicants should strictly follow the required items in the "Foreigner Physical Examination Form" and provide a detailed report of the blood test, missing items, no photos of themselves, or no stamps on the photos, and no signatures and seals of the doctors and hospitals. "Foreigner Physical Examination Form" is invalid.

Application process

1. Apply online

Log in to the online application system for international students of East China Normal University http://lxsapply.ecnu.edu.cn, please register and fill in the application, upload the relevant application materials, and pay the application fee of 800 yuan online. Note that once the application fee is successfully paid, it will not be refunded.

*If applying for the scholarship program, please fill in the application information on the relevant scholarship application website at the same time.

2. Submit paper application materials

Please submit all original application materials to the following address before the application deadline:

*Regardless of whether the applicant is admitted or not, the paper application materials will not be returned.

3. Track application status online

You can check the application progress and status through the registered email address or the online application system for international students of East China Normal University.

*Please make sure your email address is correct and check your email regularly to avoid missing important notices (such as interview notices, etc.).

4. Admission and admission

You can check the admission results in the online application system for international students of East China Normal University or the bulletin board on the website of the International Education Center of East China Normal University. Admitted students must register and register at the school in strict accordance with the time specified in the admission notice. The original graduation certificate and degree certificate will be verified when registering. Those who fail to obtain the corresponding certificate will be disqualified for admission.

1. Applicants should ensure that the application information and application materials provided are true and accurate. Once the admissions unit or certification department verifies that they are not true, they will not be admitted or disqualified.

2. Students are not allowed to register at two schools at the same time. Once verified, their student status will be canceled.

3. Regarding degree certification, it can be obtained from any of the following institutions:
