Seven international students won government scholarships

Recently, the Department of International Exchange and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education announced the election results of the 2020 "Chinese Government Scholarship for Outstanding International Students in China".

Six undergraduates from our school including SANKARAPANDIAN VIGNESHKUMAR, SUGANDHA PRAKASH, SHAHUL HAMEED NUAIM ABUL HASSAN, KUNDU AISHANI, ABINASH PANDA, LEE EORYEONG, and 1 master graduate student from NOMAN SHAHID won this honor.

The Ministry of Education has established the "Chinese Government Scholarship for Outstanding International Students in China" in 2015, aiming to commend international students with outstanding conduct and academic performance. In 2020, a total of 575 international students in China won awards.

SANKARAPANDIAN VIGNESHKUMAR, Indian nationality, an undergraduate in clinical medicine (English-taught) in grade 2015. Study hard and conscientiously, be good at research, have strong organizational skills, practical skills, and application skills. As a member of the Media Operations Department of the International Students Association, he actively promotes various international student activities of the school. He has won the Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students in Guangdong and Southern Medical University Scholarship for International Students for two consecutive years.

UGANDA PRAKASH, Indian, an undergraduate in clinical medicine (English-taught) in 2016. With excellent academic performance, he is among the best in the class and has published two academic papers. He has dance expertise and actively participates in various international student activities organized by schools and colleges, such as the “Charming Guangdong Helps My Dreams Come True” international student exchange activities in Guangdong, the school’s international cultural festival, etc. He has repeatedly won the Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students in Guangdong and the Academic Scholarship for International Students from Southern Medical University.

SHAHUL HAMEED NUAIM ABUL HASSAN, Indian nationality, undergraduate of 2017 clinical medicine major (taught in English). Study diligently and rank in the top ten in grade. Caring for and supporting the management of international students in our school, serving as the class leader for three consecutive years, is the right-hand assistant of the class counselor. He was successively elected the secretary-general and vice chairman of our school's study abroad association, leading the backbone of international students to carry out a variety of activities for overseas students. Won the Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students in Guangdong for three consecutive years, and won the first prize of the Southern Medical University Scholarship for International Students in 2017.

KUNDU AISHANI, Indian nationality, clinical medicine major (English-taught) undergraduate in 2018. He is diligent in studying, good at thinking, focusing on practice, and has excellent academic performance, which has won unanimous praise from professional teachers. Received the Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students in Guangdong for three consecutive years. Can sing and dance, be versatile, and actively participate in school activities.

ABINASH PANDA, Indian, an undergraduate in clinical medicine (English-taught) in grade 2019. Be active in learning and have excellent grades. He studied Chinese seriously and won the first prize in the grade Chinese poetry recitation competition. Strong collective mindset and willingness to help others. As a member of class study, he has organized and carried outclass study activities many times and has been praised and loved by teachers and classmates. Won the 2019 Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students in Guangdong.

LEE EORYEONG, Korean nationality, clinical medicine major (Chinese-taught) undergraduate in 2018. He has excellent grades and is ranked first among international students in his class. He has won the Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship for International Students in Guangdong and the Southern Medical University Scholarship for International Students in China many times. Take the initiative to give play to his artistic expertise, actively participate in school celebration concerts and other performances, and have served as the captain of the school art troupe instrumental band, the school symphony orchestra violin chief, and other positions.

NOMAN SHAHID, Pakistani, graduate student with a master's degree in Surgery (General Surgery) in 2019. Solid academic foundation, good learning attitude, strong language skills, good at communication, organization, and coordination, and outstanding performance during the post of the monitor. In the important activities of the college to study the spirit of General Secretary Xi’s reply to Pakistani students, I actively communicated and wrote letters based on my own experience to express my understanding, knowledge, and experience of the spirit of General Secretary Xi’s reply. During the epidemic, I not only actively cooperated with the school’s anti-epidemic work but also expressed my gratitude to the Chinese government and the school teachers through writing letters.
