Hebei University President Scholarship

To promote the development of the education of foreign students in our school, continue to expand the scale, improve the level of study abroad, and support and encourage more foreign students to study in our school, the Hebei University President Scholarship for International Students in China will be established in 2019. The scholarship adheres to the principles of fairness, justice, openness, and merit, and is used to subsidize the tuition and living expenses of self-financed foreign students during their studies at the school.

2. Scholarship scope

The Principal Scholarship for International Students of Hebei University in China is used to fund doctoral, master, and undergraduate international students who apply to study at our school or are studying at our school at our own expense. Chinese government scholarship students and Confucius Institute scholarship students are not included in the scope of funding.

 

3. Application conditions

Applicants must be in good health, have foreign nationality, and hold a valid foreign passport. Applicants must be friendly to China, have good academic records, strictly abide by Chinese laws, social ethics, and Hebei University’s school rules and regulations, and have good overall qualities and moral standards. The specific conditions are as follows:

 

3.1 To apply for undergraduate scholarships, one must meet at least one of the following conditions, with multiple ones preferred.

3.1.1 An average of 75 points or more in high school academic performance;

3.1.2 Participated in various competitions at school level and above and won awards;

3.1.3 HSK score 4 and above (majors taught in Chinese);

3.1.4 IELTS score of 6.5 or TOEFL score of 85 or above, or equivalent English proficiency (English-taught major);

3.1.5 Cultural and sports expertise certified by a national professional association.

 

3.2 To apply for a master's degree scholarship, at least one of the following conditions must be met, and those with multiple qualifications are preferred.

3.2.1 The average academic performance of the bachelor’s degree is above 75 points;

3.2.2 A bachelor's degree thesis with good grades and above;

3.2.3 HSK score of level 5 and above (majors taught in Chinese);

3.2.4 IELTS score of 6.5 or TOEFL score of 85 or above, or equivalent English proficiency and above (English-taught major);

3.2.5 Published works or articles in official journals.

 

3.3 To apply for a doctoral scholarship, at least one of the following conditions must be met, and those with multiple qualifications are preferred.

3.3.1 The average academic performance of the master's degree is 75 points or more;

3.3.2 A good or above grade in a master's degree thesis;

3.3.3 HSK score of level 5 and above (majors taught in Chinese);

3.3.4 IELTS score of 6.5 or TOEFL score of 85 or above, or equivalent English proficiency and above (English-taught major);

3.3.5 Published high-level academic papers in academic journals.

 

4. Application time and required materials

4.1 For those who apply for the Principal Scholarship of Hebei University for International Students in China, the deadline for application in 2019 is September 20 in principle.

4.2 Fill in the "Application Form for the Principal Scholarship for International Students of Hebei University". The application form can be downloaded from the School of International Exchange and Education website http://ciee.hbu.edu.cn/.

4.3 Applicants for the Principal Scholarship for International Students of Hebei University in China must submit notarized copies of "personal passport, graduation certificate, HSK test certificate, test transcript, academic publication results, award certificate", etc. before the deadline, and The research plan, mentor recommendation letter, and other materials are sent to the School of International Exchange and Education of Hebei University.

 

5. Scholarship annual review requirements

5.1 Be friendly to China and love Hebei University;

5.2 Abide by laws and regulations, be physically and mentally healthy, have good overall qualities and moral standards;

5.3 Correct learning attitude, good grades, and class attendance rate of more than 90%;

5.4 Actively participate in various cultural and sports activities and social practice activities of the school;

5.5 Not subject to school discipline.

 

6. Scholarship evaluation and management

According to the application requirements for the principal scholarship for international students in China, the School of International Exchange and Education will review the qualifications, application conditions, and application materials of scholarship applicants, and select a list of those who meet the application requirements.

The School of International Exchange and Education will lead the establishment of a review team to assess the list of scholarships for foreign students by the principle of "justice, openness, fairness, and merit-based selection".

Publicize the list of scholarships for foreign students on the website of the School of International Exchange and Education. The period of publication is 5 working days. At the same time, the foreign students are notified by a letter that they must formally return the receipt within the specified time. If there is no return receipt after the expiration date, it will be deemed to have waived the scholarship application qualification.

For international students who have received scholarships, if one of the following behaviors is found, the school will cancel their eligibility to apply for scholarships in the next year and deal with them by laws and regulations.

(1) Those who violated Chinese laws, school discipline, and school rules while in school;

(2) Those who fail to return to school to register on time, or absent from school for more than one week without reason;

(3) Those with a poor learning attitude and failing course grades.

Freshmen who have obtained scholarship qualifications and who do not register by the prescribed time without approval will be deemed to have given up the scholarship automatically and the school will cancel their scholarship qualifications.
