Scholarship program introduction

1. Project features

The Atomic Energy Scholarship Program will be guided by the needs of the international community, with the goal of cultivating applied nuclear power talents, relying on the nuclear discipline international talent training platform, adopting a " diversified " and " dual tutor " talent training model, and establishing a " government - university - enterprise" talent training model. " Cultivation mechanism of collaborative education.


Relying on the two platforms of the IAEA’s technical cooperation project and the national “111” innovation and talent introduction base, Harbin Engineering University refers to the nuclear engineering curriculum of world-class universities, promotes the construction of an international curriculum system, and participates in the IAEA’s  nuclear With the establishment of " Engineering Education Standards", nuclear engineering majors are the first in China to pass the certification of engineering education. The ability and level of personnel training in nuclear energy science and engineering disciplines has been widely recognized internationally and has a good international reputation. The school has developed into the largest nuclear talent training base in China and the nuclear education and training center of the International Atomic Energy Agency, enjoying unique resource advantages in the field of nuclear power talent training.


The talent training of the Atomic Energy Scholarship Program covers degree courses, elective courses, comprehensive courses and practical courses, and provides opportunities for visits and internships in Chinese nuclear power plants, institutes and bases.


2. Number of scholarships

  • Enrollment for master's degree: 25-30 ;

  • Number of PhD students: 10-15 .


3. Scholarship funding period

  • Master's degree candidates: 3 years;

  • Doctoral students: 4 years;

  • The duration of the Chinese Government Atomic Energy Scholarship is the length of study determined at the time of admission, and in principle cannot be extended.


4. Scholarship content and standards

  • Provide registration fees, tuition fees, and accommodation fees;

  • Provide living expenses, master's students: 3000 yuan / month; doctoral students: 3500 yuan / month;

  • Provide comprehensive medical insurance for international students in China 800 yuan / person / year;

  • International travel expenses are at your own expense.


Scholarship application


1. Eligibility for application

  • Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens of emerging nuclear power countries, committed to the nuclear energy industry and benefiting society, and be in good health;

  • Must apply for a postgraduate degree related to nuclear energy engineering;

  • Possess basic knowledge of mathematics, physics and other disciplines and strong scientific research capabilities;

  • Have good English writing, reading and communication skills;

  • Applicant's academic qualifications and age requirements:

    - Applicants for master degree programs must have a bachelor's degree, no older than 35 years of age;

    - Doctoral degree studies must have master, not older than 40 years of age;

  • Priority will be given to applicants with a background in nuclear energy or related fields.


2. Application time

2020 December 15 to April 15, 2021 (recommended January 18, 2021 - February 28 Do not send application materials during the winter).


3. Application materials

(1) After submitting the information in the online application system of the China Scholarship Council (http://laihua.csc.edu.cn ), print the application form for the Chinese Government Scholarship.

(3) Notarized highest education certificate. Applicants are current students and need to provide a pre-graduation certificate issued by the school they are attending.

(4) Academic transcripts.

(9) Applicants whose native language is not English must submit a TOEFL score of 80 or above or an IELTS score of 5.5 or above, or a language proficiency certificate provided by the preparatory school.

(10) If the applicant is already employed, an employment certificate issued by the employer must be submitted.

• If the applicant’s qualifications or application materials do not meet the regulations and requirements, the application will be deemed invalid and will not be accepted.

 Once it is found that the application materials provided by the applicant have concealed relevant information or false materials, the school has the right to suspend the scholarship.


4. How to apply

After completing the online registration of the China Scholarship Council and Harbin Engineering University, all the above paper application materials (in duplicate, ie one original and one copy) should be mailed to the International Students Office of the International Exchange and Cooperation Office of Harbin Engineering University.


Scholarship list

Applicants who meet the scholarship requirements are reviewed by the Harbin Engineering University, the China Scholarship Council and the Ministry of Education of China to determine whether they are admitted.

In principle, scholarship recipients are not allowed to change the information of study major and study period specified in the "Admission Notice" after coming to China, and do not accept applications for transfer, transfer to college, transfer to major, or change of tutors.

National Atomic Energy Agency ( CAEA )

Harbin Engineering University ( HEU )

Harbin Engineering University (HEU) is located on the banks of the beautiful Songhua River - Harbin City, an ice city in the North. The predecessor of the school was the Chinese People's Liberation Army Military Engineering Academy ( " Harbin Military Industry" ) , which was founded in 1953. In 1970 , the Harbin Institute of Shipbuilding Engineering was established; in 1994 , it was renamed Harbin Engineering University. School of Nuclear Science and Technology ( CNST )

Nuclear Science and Technology (CNST), formerly known as "HEU" of atomic energy and nuclear power plant professional specialty, enrollment began in 1958, 12 December 2005 set up the nuclear institute, established the "international, open, research " High-level" development thinking, dedicated to cultivating specialized talents in the field of nuclear power engaged in scientific research, design and development, operation and management.

The college now has a " nuclear science and technology " first-level subject post-doctoral research mobile station, doctoral degree authorization point and master degree authorization point. It is a key construction discipline of the "211 Project " and a key discipline of national defense characteristics. Has a "nuclear security and Simulation" national innovation talent recruitment base, "Nuclear Science and Technology" national virtual simulation experiment teaching center, "Nuclear Safety and Simulation Technology" Key Laboratory of National Defense, "Nuclear Science and Technology" experiment in Heilongjiang Province Teaching Demonstration Center, " Radiation Technology " University Laboratory in Heilongjiang Province. There are currently two undergraduate majors: " Nuclear Engineering and Nuclear Technology " and " Nuclear Chemical Engineering and Nuclear Fuel Engineering " . Among them, " Nuclear Chemical Engineering and Nuclear Fuel Engineering " is the first batch of outstanding engineers education and training program majors of the Ministry of Education.
