On April 18th, the research group of Professor Nie Fuling from the Institute of History of Science and Technology of our school undertook the opening report meeting of Inner Mongolia Normal University, the first major research project of philosophy and social science research of the Ministry of Education, "Collation and Research of Physics Literature in the Late Qing Dynasty" The No. 2 meeting room of Wenshi Building on the Han campus was held. At the opening report meeting, Professor Nie Fuling, on behalf of the research team, made a detailed report on the five aspects of the research status and value of the topic selection, the overall framework and expected goals, and the breakthrough points of the project. Professor Nie Fuling pointed out that the research focuses on the introduction of Western learning to the east and the introduction of Chinese and Western scientific traditions and ideas. It is of great practical significance to explore the way Chinese people learn and understand Western physics in their own way. The project is divided into four sub-projects: "The first sub-project: the compilation and research of physics in the late Qing Dynasty", "the second sub-project: The sorting and research of physics literature in the late Qing sci-tech journals", and the third sub-project: the Chinese in the late Qing Dynasty The compilation and research of the compiled physics literature" "Fourth Sub-topic: Comprehensive Research on the Physics Literature of the Late Qing Dynasty".
Subsequently, the person in charge of the sub-projects of the project introduced their respective research tasks and exchanged and reported on the further work of related research. The members of the expert group in the comment section affirmed the design ideas and research significance of the project, as well as the early research accumulation of Professor Nie Fuling's team, and put forward pertinent and feasible suggestions: the purpose of physics translation in the late Qing Dynasty and the background of the literature itself can be increased; There must be careful and comprehensive considerations in document collation; attention should be paid to cooperation between sub-topics, and omissions or contradictions should be avoided when integrating; field investigation and comparison between China and the West should be strengthened. On behalf of Professor Nie Fuling's team, Professor Guo Shirong reviewed the project application and gave a demonstration and summary.
