The Library of Inner Mongolia University is one of the largest modern large-scale document information centers in Inner Mongolia University and even the autonomous region. It is divided into the North District and the South District Library. The North District Library covers an area of 16,170 square meters, has nearly 1,526 reading seats, 20 reading rooms shared by teachers and students, and 3 electronic audio-visual reading rooms; South Library With an area of 28,000 square meters, the new library integrates book collection, reading, exhibition, and office functions.




The library and its branch libraries, hospitals (institutes), and reference rooms have collected more than 2.74 million volumes (pieces) of paper documents, 260,000 types of e-books, 42 Chinese and foreign language databases, and 12 self-built databases. A scientific collection system with distinctive ethnic characteristics and regional characteristics, focusing on Mongolian studies and life sciences and guaranteeing school teaching and scientific research professional books. 1. History

The Inner Mongolia University Library was founded on October 14, 1957. It was the first comprehensive university library established in a minority area in China after the founding of the People's Republic of China. Was located in the school teaching building, premises area of 2,000 square meters, a collection of 174,000, of which 60,000 are in school to build the initial follow Zhou Enlai instructions of the Prime Minister, by the Peking University, Tsinghua University, Nankai University, Jinan University, Fudan University, etc. Donated by 12 domestic colleges and universities. In the beginning, there were nearly 20 staff members, and a relatively scientific basic work and a certain scale of external loan and internal reading work system were established. When the library was founded, the building occupies a corner of the main teaching building, covering an area of about 2,000 square meters and a collection of 174,000 books. In 1989, the first phase of the new building of the Inner Mongolia University Library was completed, with an area of 5,600 square meters. In 1997, Nei University was listed as one of the 100 universities in the national "Project 211 " key construction. In 1998, the library adopted international and domestic standardized description formats, and independently established bibliographic databases in Chinese, English, Mongolian, etc., especially The Mongolian characteristic database, the construction results of the life science navigation database, and the number of online cataloging in the library rank the top 25, 45 and 13 in the national university libraries; a total of ISI database, SpringerLink database, and Apabi digital library have been introduced and purchased There are 18 databases including the system, and 10 self-built databases, which greatly enriched the library's network document information resources and became the largest network information center in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. With the establishment of the library's local area network, most of the library's work has basically got rid of the traditional manual methods and realized networked computer management. The document acquisition and editing work have been managed from the initial stand-alone management to the operation of the library’s local area network, and then developed to online cataloging on the Internet. The reading room adopts an integrated layout mode of collection, borrowing, and reading, shared by teachers and students, and most of the documents are in the reading room Fully open-shelves open management has been implemented; the search for books and documents, the management of readers' borrowed documents, and business statistics have also achieved computer automation management, which effectively improves the utilization rate of library collections and the scientific management of reader services Level, online consulting services have been opened, consultants can provide online consulting services for readers anytime, anywhere.


2. The style of the current museum

In 2000, the 16,000-square-meter Inner Mongolia University Library's new library was completed by relying on the first and second phases of the new library. The building is a landmark building that integrates traditional and modern library architectural styles. The design adopts the modular library building form with the same height, the same column network, the same load, and large bays. At the same time, it designs and installs comprehensive wiring projects and interfaces such as computer networks, communications, TV monitoring, and fire alarms to modernize the library. Provides a good environment and conditions. The new building of the Archives was completed in 2004. The building area is 170 square meters. In July 2002, Inner Mongolia University Library was upgraded from a C-level member library of the online cataloging of the CALIS Center to a B-level member library. In this regard, it entered the top 30 national university libraries, making the library's business-level reach the first-class level in the autonomous region. , Ranks among the advanced ranks of similar universities in the country. In recent years, the development of the library has been advancing by leaps and bounds, and the service level and business level have been continuously improved. The original library management system has been unable to meet the development needs of our library in many aspects. Therefore, we introduced the Huiwen library management system, and in 2003 It was fully launched in September 2008. The introduction of this system has greatly improved our library's service level, business level, and standardization of statistics, and promoted the modernization of the library.


In 2009, the library of the South Campus of 28,000 square meters was completed and put into use. The new library integrates book collection, reading, exhibition, and office functions. The internal space layout is scientific and reasonable, full of humanity, and the streamlined arrangement is clear and clear, and space is shared. The setting allows the sunlight to be fully introduced, and the reading space becomes warm and cozy.


There are currently 25 reading rooms of various types, 2 Internet service areas, 2 borrowing and returning places, and 3374 reading seats in the libraries of the North and South campuses. There are multi-functional academic lecture halls on the north and south campuses, which can host various large and medium-sized academic conferences at home and abroad.


3. Literature resources

76% of the library's collections are borrowed and borrowed. The library receives more than 850,000 readers per year and has a daily flow of nearly 4,000 readers. The library's collection of paper documents has reached more than 1.25 million volumes (items) and 2 G of electronic documents. The archives have collected more than 23,000 volumes of 12 types of archives of the school. In the collection of paper documents, there are more than 600,000 Chinese books, more than 200,000 foreign books, more than 60,000 Mongolian books, more than 230,000 Chinese and foreign newspapers and periodicals, and more than 110,000 ancient books in thread-bound. The collection of documents has distinctive ethnic and regional characteristics. It focuses on Mongolian studies and life sciences. The "Mongolian Literature Information Center" of the National Education Ministry is one of the 16 national literature information centers directly under the Ministry of Education. It is an important document base for Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Inner Mongolian Studies. It has a collection of more than 30,000 volumes (pieces) of various types and types of Mongolian literature. The "Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Colleges and Universities Foreign Languages Documentation Center" is funded by the Autonomous Region Education Department and provides original foreign-language documentation services to 27 ordinary colleges and universities in the region. "Inner Mongolia University Life Sciences Document Information Center" features ecology and agricultural and animal husbandry bioengineering disciplines, focusing on the development of domestic and foreign literature resources in ecology, animal reproductive biology and biotechnology, microbiology, and genetic engineering. The "Siku Quanshu" series of documents are also quite rich, including Taiwan Wenyuange edition "Siku Quanshu", Taiwan edition " Siku Quanshu Hui Yao ", "Siku Quanshu Cunmu Series" and other important documents and related documents.


To give full play to the role of the Inner Mongolia University Library in the central library of the Autonomous Region, the Inner Mongolia University Library Director Dr. Alatacang proposed and approved by the Education Department of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region to form the Inner Mongolia Higher Education Documentation Security System (NALIS). Its main tasks are: through the digital construction of the information service network and document information resources of Inner Mongolia University, and with the funding of the construction of the CALIS center, speed up the construction of the regional document service center, and initially realize the public retrieval, interlibrary loan, and literature in the system. The functions of delivery, coordinated procurement, online cooperative cataloging, etc., will establish the basic framework of the Inner Mongolia higher education document guarantee service system, and provide all-around information guarantee services to universities and the society in the autonomous region. The center’s website has been launched on the library’s website. As the school’s document information center and an academic institution serving teaching and scientific research, the library has completed 13 documentary research and scientific research achievements such as the " General Catalogue of Ancient Chinese Mongolian Books" in the past 5 years. The ongoing "Mongolian Document Computer" There are 12 development projects such as "Management Integrated System" and "Mongolian Book Bibliography Database CD", which surpassed the total of the previous 40 years. Among them, the "General Catalogue of Chinese Mongolian Ancient Books" was designated as IFLA in 1997 to promote developing countries. 4. Honors

Since 1987, the library has successively established "Inner Mongolia University Foreign Language Literature Information Center", "National Education Ministry Ethnic Discipline Mongolian Literature Information Center", "Inner Mongolia University Life Science Literature Information Center", "Inner Mongolia University Mathematics Science Literature Information Center" "Etc., among which the "Mongolian Literature Information Center for Ethnic Disciplines of the Ministry of Education" is one of the sixteen literature information centers in the national key colleges and universities affiliated to the Ministry of Education. Inner Mongolia University Library is a member library of the Library and Information Work Committee of the Ministry of Education, the Council of the Chinese Library Association, and the B-level member library of the joint catalog project of the China Academic Library & Information System (CALIS Center). In 2005, the "CALIS Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Document Information Service Center" was established in the library in the library. In the same year, the archives were promoted to a special library and were rated as an excellent unit for utilization assessment by the autonomous region. In 2006, the Calis Western Training Center was established in the library to provide services to the five western provinces. In 2007, the "Ministry of Education Science and Technology Novelty Search Workstation (L23)" was established, becoming the only Ministry of Education Science and technology novelty search station in the autonomous region.
