Chinese Government Special Scholarship

 
The "Chinese Government Special Scholarship-Support Local Scholarship Program" was established by the Ministry of Education of China to encourage and support provincial local governments to establish scholarships for studying in China and provide full scholarship programs to regions that have established provincial local government scholarships. The relevant provincial and autonomous region education authorities that have established provincial-level local government scholarships are responsible for organizing the autonomous enrollment of territorial institutions of higher learning. The Ministry of Education of China has entrusted the China Scholarship Council (hereinafter referred to as the "CSC") to be responsible for the enrollment approval and daily affairs management of the international students of this project.

Enrollment category and scholarship period

Master's degree students: scholarship period of 2-3 years

Doctoral students: Scholarship period is 3-4 years
 
1. Majors in China can be taught in Chinese or English. Scholarship students who are taught in Chinese, if their Chinese proficiency does not meet the requirements for entering the major, must take one-year Chinese tuition after coming to China, and they can enter the major after passing the exam.
 
2. The duration of the scholarship is the length of study determined at the time of admission. In principle, the scholarship will not be extended after the student comes to China.
 
3. The number of scholarships cannot be used across the year.
 
Application path and application time

Applicants should apply to the relevant Chinese higher education institutions undertaking this project within the specified time. Please check with the relevant Chinese higher education institutions for the specific application time.

 

Applicant qualifications

1. Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and in good health;
 
2. Applicants must be students who are not already studying in China (graduates studying in China must graduate more than one academic year);
 
3. Applicant's academic qualifications and age requirements:
 
● Those who come to China to study for a master's degree must have a bachelor's degree and be under the age of 35;
● Those who come to China to study for a doctoral degree must have a master's degree and be under the age of 40.
 

Scholarship content and standards

Free registration fee, tuition fee, experiment fee, internship fee, basic textbook fee and free on-campus accommodation;

Provide scholarship living expenses;

Provide a one-time resettlement subsidy for the first time coming to China;
 
Provide outpatient medical services and comprehensive medical insurance for international students coming to China on Chinese government scholarships.
 

Note

1. Scholarship students are required to conduct experiments or internships beyond the school's teaching plan, and the excess expenses shall be borne by themselves.
 
 
2. Fees for basic textbooks: the necessary textbooks for scholarship students are provided free of charge as designated by the school; other books and materials are at their own expense.
 
 
3. Standards of scholarship living expenses:
 
● Master's degree students: 1,700 RMB/month
 
● Doctoral students: 2,000 RMB/month
 
The living expenses of the scholarship will be paid by the school monthly from the date of enrollment of the scholarship students. Freshmen who register before the 15th (including the 15th) of the month will receive a full-month scholarship living allowance; those who register after the 15th will receive a half-month scholarship living allowance. The scholarship living expenses of graduates shall be paid half a month after the graduation date determined by the school. For those who suspend, drop out, or return to China after graduation, the scholarship living allowance will be suspended from next month. The scholarship living allowance will be issued during the school holidays; scholarship students who fail to receive the scholarship living allowance on time due to leaving school during the holiday can be repaid after returning to school. Scholarship students who fail to register on time without applying for leave, leave school for non-health reasons, or absent from school for more than one month, will stop paying the scholarship living allowance for that month.
 
Scholarship students who need to suspend their studies due to pregnancy or serious illnesses should return to their home country to give birth or recuperate, and their travel expenses will be borne by themselves. With the approval of the school, the scholarship qualifications can be retained for up to one year, but the scholarship living allowance will be suspended during the suspension period. Scholarship students who suspend their studies due to other reasons, their qualifications for scholarships will not be retained.
 
 
4. Standard of one-time resettlement fee for freshmen coming to China: RMB 1,500 for a one-time payment.
 
 
5. Outpatient medical expenses: the daily outpatient expenses for students in the school hospital or the hospital designated by the school. After seeing a doctor, students need to pay a certain percentage of expenses by themselves in accordance with the relevant regulations of the school.
 
 
6. Comprehensive medical insurance for international students studying in China under Chinese government scholarship: the comprehensive medical insurance paid by the Ministry of Education of China for scholarship students in China. It is mainly used for the expenses paid by the students for hospitalization due to serious illness or personal accidental injury. The school of the scholarship student or the rescue agency that accepts the advance payment shall hold the relevant expense receipt and settle the compensation to the insurance company in accordance with the pre-defined insurance clauses. Insurance companies do not accept personal claims.
 
 
7. International travel expenses: self-care.
 

Application materials provided

Applicants must truthfully fill in and submit the following application materials (all in duplicate)
 
 
In principle, applicants must fill in and submit the electronic application information online through the "Online Application System for Studying in China" of the China Scholarship Council. After submitting the information, please print the application form for the Chinese Government Scholarship automatically generated by the system.
 
The website of the CSC Online Application System for Studying in China is http://laihua.csc.edu.cn
 
Applicants can check with the applicant institution for the number of the receiving institution required for online registration.
 
For countries that do not have the online application requirements, applicants can fill in the "Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form" printed by the China Scholarship Council.
 
 
2. The highest degree certificate that has been notarized. If the applicant is a school student or is already employed, he/she needs to submit an enrollment certificate issued by the school where he/she is studying. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations;
 
 
3. Academic transcripts. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations;
 
 
4. Plan to study or research in China. Applicants can write a study or research plan in China in Chinese or English;
 
 
5. Two recommendation letters from professors or associate professors must be submitted, written in Chinese or English;
 
 
6. Students applying for music majors must submit CDs of their own works; students applying for fine arts majors must provide CDs of their own works (2 sketches, 2 color paintings, and 2 other works);
 
 
7. A copy of the "Foreigner Physical Examination Form" (the original is kept by yourself. This form is uniformly printed by the Chinese Health and Quarantine Department and can be downloaded from the website of the China Scholarship Council). It must be filled out in English. Applicants should strictly follow the required items in the "Physical Examination Form for Foreigners" to conduct inspections. The "Foreigner Physical Examination Form" that is missing, does not have a photo of the person affixed, or the photo is not stamped with a seam seal, is not signed and stamped by the doctor and the hospital is invalid. Because the examination result is valid for 6 months, the applicant is requested to determine the time for the physical examination accordingly.
 
The above application materials should be directly submitted by the students themselves to the relevant Chinese institutions of higher learning undertaking this project before March 31, 2013. The Scholarship Council does not accept individual applications.
 

Admission and notification

1. Relevant provinces and autonomous regions in China accepting Chinese government scholarship institutions are responsible for reviewing the application materials and deciding the candidates for admission.
 
2. The "Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form", "Highest Education Certificate", and "Physical Examination Form for Foreigners" (all in duplicate) of the approved applicants by the education authorities of each province and autonomous region before the end of April 2013, And the "Admission List", "Admission Notice" and "Visa Application Form for Foreign Students Studying in China" (JW201 Form) prepared by the school are sent to the Scholarship Council.
 
3. The Scholarship Council will review the admission results of all provinces and autonomous regions, and issue the "Visa Application Form for Foreign Students Studying in China" (JW201 Form).
 
4. The Scholarship Council will send the "Admission List", "Admission Notice" and "Visa Application Form for Studying Abroad in China" (JW201 Form) to the relevant provincial and autonomous region education directors who undertake enrollment affairs before the end of June 2013. The department shall forward the above-mentioned documents to the relevant schools to notify the students themselves.
 
5. The scholarship recipients must be managed in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Chinese Government Scholarship after coming to China. Scholarship recipients for this project come
After China, it is not allowed to change the admission institution; in principle, it is not allowed to change the study major and study period.
