
Outstanding achievements in Translation Competition
Our school won excellent results in the 4th World Traditional Chinese Medicine Translation Competition
Abstract: The award ceremony of the 4th World Traditional Chinese Medicine Translation Competition was held in Beijing on December 15th. Our school won the third prize in the group.
On December 15, the 17th World Congress of Traditional Chinese Medicine, under the guidance of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine of China and sponsored by the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, was grandly held in Beijing. Sun Da, deputy director of the State Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Ma Jianzhong, chairman of the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches. Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Zhang Boli and Wang Qi gave keynote speeches. The theme of this conference is "Building a community with a shared future for human health, global Chinese medicine practitioners are in action", using online and offline integration. Our school's Public Foreign Language Teaching Department, International Cooperation and Exchange Office, Deputy Secretary of the Party Branch of the International Education College Chen Juan, and Gu Zhenyu, Director of the Chinese Medicine Foreign Language Application Research Office of the International Education College, attended the meeting.
The award ceremony of the 4th World Traditional Chinese Medicine Translation Competition is an important part of this conference. This year's translation competition is under the guidance of the China Translation Association and China Translation Research Institute, and is hosted by the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies (Translation Professional Committee, Translation Center) and lasts for 8 months. Our school actively organized and mobilized more than 30 teachers and students from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, the United States, India, Malaysia, and other countries and regions to actively participate. Adhering to the principle of "fairness, impartiality, objectivity, and accuracy", the World Central United Translation Center organized internationally renowned Chinese medical translation experts to conduct preliminary, re-evaluation, and final evaluation of more than 960 valid translations. In the end, our school won the third prize in the group.
The contestants of our school said that they have gained a lot in the translation process of this competition. They not only learned more about the long history of Chinese medicine, exercised their translation skills, but also deepened their understanding of the Chinese culture behind Chinese medicine. In recent years, the Department of Public Foreign Language Teaching and the School of International Education of our school has focused on cultivating foreign exchange talents and promoting the international development of Chinese medicine. They have organized many teachers and students to participate in traditional cultural communication and traditional Chinese medicine exchange activities. This award fully reflects The students of our school have a solid foundation in Chinese medicine, a wealth of cultural knowledge reserves, and excellent translation skills.
