Confucius Institute Scholarship

To cultivate qualified Chinese language teachers and facilitate the promotion of Chinese language and culture, the Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) launches the “Confucius Institute Scholarship” (CIS) to support outstanding students, scholars and currently employed Chinese language teachers recommended by Confucius Institutes, independently operated Confucius Classrooms as well as some HSK test centers (hereinafter to be collectively referred to as “recommending institutions”) to study in Chinese universities and colleges.

 

1. Qualification of Candidate

1.1 Non-Chinese citizens.

1.2 In good physical and mental condition, well performed both academically and behaviorally.

1.3 Aspired to take future careers in the teaching or international promotion of the Chinese language.

1.4 Applicants should be 16-35 years of age(account on September 1st, 2018). Applicants currently worked as Chinese language teachers shall not exceed the age limit of 45. Applicants for BTCSOL scholarship should be generally no more than 25 years of age.

1.5 Categories and Eligibility 

         Scholarship for Master’s Degree of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) Students

                   Enrollment Time: Sept. 2018; Sponsorship Duration: 2 Years

 Level 5 with 210 score

 the Intermediate Level with a 60 score

 An applicant who can provide the employment agreement or certification upon completion of study from designated working institutions is prior.

 

           Scholarship for Bachelor’s Degree of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages Students

                     Enrollment Time: Sept. 2018; Sponsorship Duration: 4 Years

 One-Academic-Year Study

    Enrollment Time: Sept. 2018; Sponsorship Duration: 11 Months

Notes: Ineligible for students in China.

 

                               One-Semester Study

 Enrollment Time: Sept. 2018, Mar. 2019; Sponsorship Duration: 5 Months

2. Application Procedures

2.1 For all applicants, please log on to the Confucius Institute Scholarships website (http://cis.chinese.cn) from March 1st, 2018 to register. Complete the Confucius Institute Scholarships Application Form online and upload the scanned copies of relevant supporting documents.

2.2 Recommending institutions review materials and recommend applicants who meet the criteria of our university.

2.3 Our university reviews materials, interviews applicants, and pre-admits applicants on a competitive selection-based process.

2.4 Hanban will conduct an overall assessment of all applications and admit applicants based on competitive selection. Normally, the admission results will be announced 2 months before the term begins.

 

3. Chinese Bridge Winners

If you have achieved the 2018 “Confucius Institute Scholarship Certificate” from various Chinese Bridge competitions, please visit the Confucius Institute Scholarship website and submit your scholarship certificate as application documents.
