Introduction to international graduate enrollment

1. Training goals

Cultivate professional talents who understand China and Chinese culture, have more proficient Chinese language and culture teaching skills and cross-cultural communication skills and are competent for Chinese teaching tasks. The specific requirements are:

1.1 Have good professional qualities and professional ethics.

1.2 Have good Chinese expression skills and relatively proficient Chinese teaching skills.

1.3 Have a good ability to understand Chinese culture, the ability to integrate Chinese and foreign cultures, and the ability to communicate across cultures.

 

2. Eligibility for application

2.1 Non-Chinese citizens who hold foreign passports, are in good health, have good conduct, and abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government and the rules and regulations of the school. For residents of Mainland China (Mainland), Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan who apply as foreign students after immigrating to foreign countries, they should hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate before April 30, 2015, and have a canceled Chinese nationality prove.

2.2 Applicants for a master's degree must have a bachelor's degree. Applicants who graduated from a non-Mainland Chinese college must hold a bachelor's degree from an institution recognized by the Ministry of Education of China (no skipping or transfer during the undergraduate course).

2.3 Foreigners who have a score of 210 or more in the sixth level of the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK), a score of not less than 65 in writing and reading, and Chinese language proficiency at or near the level of a native Chinese speaker. Those who major in the Chinese language, humanities, and social sciences are preferred.

 

3. Study method and length of study

3.1 The study method is full-time on-campus study, which is mainly cultivated through course study, teaching practice, and thesis writing.

3.2 The basic learning period is 2 years, and the teaching practice method is mainly to independently undertake teaching tasks or assist in the development of teaching activities.

5. Qualification review and re-examination

5.1 The International Students Office of Peking University will review the applicant's basic qualifications. After passing the qualification review, the application materials will be transferred to the Graduate Academic Affairs Office of the School of Chinese as a Foreign Language of Peking University.

5.2 The Admissions Working Group organized by the School of Chinese as a Foreign Language Education of Peking University will review the applicant’s source school, major, academic level, development potential, and personal comprehensive quality. Applicants for the re-examination will be selected in mid-March 2021 ( Subject to the announcement on the college’s website) Retest notice will be sent by email.

5.3 The Peking University School of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language has formed a re-examination expert group to conduct a comprehensive assessment of professional foundation and Chinese proficiency for applicants participating in the re-examination in mid-to-late March 2021 (subject to the announcement on the college website). The retest time for scholarship students will be arranged separately according to the time specified in the scholarship program.

The subjects and scope of the re-examination mainly include expression in Mandarin Chinese, basic knowledge of Chinese philology, the common sense of Chinese culture, the basic quality of Chinese teaching and teacher potential, etc.

 

6. Admission and admission

6.1 The Graduate School of Peking University will determine the list of admissions based on the results of the re-examination of the departments and departments. The admission list will be announced by the International Students Office of Peking University before the end of May 2021.

6.2 The International Students Office of Peking University will send out the admission notice, visa application form, and other documents in late June 2021.

 

7. Enrollment time

Freshmen will register for admission at the beginning of September 2021, and the specific time will be subject to the admission notice. Admitted students must go through the admission and registration procedures at Peking University in strict accordance with the time specified in the admission notice.

 

8. Tuition and Scholarship

8.1 The standard tuition fee is RMB 39,000 per academic year.

9. Degree award

Students complete the required credits within the specified time, pass all the course scores, pass the teaching practice, complete the dissertation, pass the comprehensive review, pass the master thesis defense organized by Peking University, and be awarded the Chinese language after the school's degree evaluation committee reviews and approve A master's degree in international education and a master's degree certificate.
