From January to May 2021, the 10th China College Students Medical Technology Skills Competition hosted by the Ministry of Education kicked off. The theme of this year’s competition is: "Suntech Elaborate skills to cultivate outstanding talents both China and the West to build a healthy China."

 

The China University Student Medical Technology Skills Competition is a high-end medical education event with unique Chinese characteristics. Since 2010, it has gone through ten years of ups and downs and can be called the "Olympics" for medical students. In this national competition this year, West China Clinic School of Medicine/West China Hospital of Sichuan University not only hosted the Southwest and Northwest Division of Nursing Specialty Circuit but also won the first prize in the Southwest and Northwest Division of the Five-year Clinical Medicine Specialty Circuit. Successfully advanced to the national finals.

From April 17th to 18th, sponsored by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Education Higher School Nursing Teaching Steering Committee (hereinafter referred to as the "Nursing Education Steering Committee") academic guidance, and Sichuan University hosted the 10th China College Students Medical Technology Skills Competition The Southwest and Northwest Division of Nursing Professional Circuit was held in West China Medical College. This is the first time in the past ten years that this event has added a nursing professional track. The competition lasted 2 days, from Yunnan, Guizhou, Tibet, Xinjiang, Shaanxi, Gansu, Qinghai, Ningxia, Chongqing, Sichuan and other 10 provinces, municipalities, and autonomous regions, 41 Contestants from colleges and universities participated in the competition and competed on the same stage, showing off their demeanor of nursing students.

 

Peng Yi, Deputy Director of the Education Department of Sichuan Province, Vice President Liang Bin and Vice President Zhang Lin of Sichuan University, Professor Bin Shen, Executive Deputy Director of West China Medical Center of Sichuan University, Professor Shang Shaomai, Chairman of the Committee of Nursing Education, Southwest and Northwest Division Chief Referee Professor Jiang Xiaoying, Dean Li Weimin, Secretary Zhang Wei, and Deputy Secretary Luo Fengming attended the opening and closing ceremonies.

 

The entire schedule is divided into three competition links: preliminary, semi-finals and finals. The preliminary round adopts a "multi-stop" assessment, with a total of 6 stations, and each site has an independent case, focusing on the three basic abilities of the participants' basic knowledge, basic skills, and basic concepts and clinical thinking and judgment; the semi-final adopts a "track-style" The assessment takes cases as the axis and progresses step by step, focusing on students including professional theory and skills, critical thinking, communication, humanistic care, empathy and other complex problem-solving and clinical thinking capabilities; the finals adopt a "single-stop" assessment, Focusing on the comprehensive capabilities of the contestants in clinical analysis, emergency judgment, humanistic care, nurse-patient communication, teamwork, etc.

 

In this competition, 15 individual prizes, 20 third prizes, 12-second prizes, 6 first prizes, and 2 special prizes were finally decided. As the organizer of the Southwest and Northwest Divisional Competition, according to the rules of the competition, our school will cooperate with the Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Lanzhou University that won the special prizes, and the first prizes of Chongqing Medical University, Kunming Medical University, Army Military Medical University, Qinghai University, Xi'an Jiaotong University and Southwest Medical University participated in the national finals together.

 

The whole process of the Southwest and Northwest Divisional Games was broadcast live simultaneously. Nearly 120,000 people were watching the game nationwide, which was affirmed and supported by participating universities and similar institutions.

From April 16th to 18th, the 10th China College Student Medical Technology Skills Competition hosted by the Ministry of Education was held at Kunming Medical University.

 

The team of West China Medical College of Sichuan University is led by Vice President Wang Kunj. The team consists of four students from the 2016 five-year clinical medicine program Wan Fangfang, Yin Yubing, Liu Linhu, and Cui Jian. In the two-day fierce competition, through the inspection of 76 skills in internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, and other disciplines, comprehensive capabilities such as clinical thinking, communication, and teamwork, The Huaxi team won the first prize of the regional competition with solid theoretical knowledge, active clinical thinking, skilled operation skills, and tacit cooperation, and successfully advanced to the national finals.

 

In May 2021, the three teams of five-year clinical medicine, eight-year clinical medicine, and nursing science of West China Clinical College of Sichuan University will participate in the national finals on their respective tracks.
