School profile
Founded in 1922, Shanghai University is a comprehensive university under the jurisdiction of Shanghai and a key construction of the national “211 Project”. The Shanghai Municipal People’s Government and the Ministry of Education jointly established universities, the first batch of high-level local university construction pilot projects in Shanghai, and the Ministry of Education. First-class discipline construction colleges and universities.
The 2020 QS ranking ranks 16th among universities in mainland China.
Shanghai University has a complete range of disciplines, covering philosophy, economics, law, literature, history, science, engineering, management, art and other disciplines.
The school currently has more than 40,000 students. Among them, there are 3,201 international students from more than 150 countries around the world. Students of different languages and different skin colors study happily here.

Eligibility for application
1. Be over 18 years old, in good health, and hold a valid foreign passport.
Note: According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education of China, residents of Mainland China (Mainland), Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan who have immigrated to a foreign country as foreign students must hold a valid foreign passport or nationality certificate for more than 4 years (inclusive), and the most recent Within 4 years (until April 30, 2021), they have actually lived abroad for more than 2 years (the actual living abroad for 9 months in a year can be calculated as 1 year, subject to entry and exit stamps).
2. Language requirements
2.1 To apply for majors taught in Chinese, the scores of the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) within the past two years should meet the following standards:

HSK can be exempted in the following situations:
Chinese is the mother tongue or common language;
Completely studied the academic program in Chinese and obtained a certificate
2.2 To apply for an English-taught major, the English proficiency must meet any of the following:
a) English is the mother tongue or official language;
b) IELTS (A) score of 6.5 or above or TOEFL score of 90 or above (including TOEFL MyBestTM Score) or other internationally recognized English proficiency test with equivalent score in the past two years, and submit Transcript;
c) Obtained an academic certificate in a country where English is the native language.
3. The academic level must meet the following conditions:
3.1 Must have a high school diploma, with a grade point of 3.0 (inclusive) or above (GPA 4-point system);
3.2 Apply for science and engineering majors, pass high school mathematics and physics scores; apply for economics and management majors, pass high school mathematics scores; apply for art majors, must provide a portfolio.

1. Application time: January 08, 2021, to June 30, 2021
2. Start time: end of August-early September 2021
3. Check-in time: the specific check-in time will be announced on the official website.
Application materials
The following materials should be prepared in full. Clear electronic files(PDF or JPG and other formats)。
1. Copy of passport
2. Passport-size ID photo within the past six months (without hat, front, blue background, one-inch ID photo (390*570), JPG format, size within 100K)
3. Upload a small video (content: self-introduction and study plan in China, format: avi, mov, mp4 can be three kinds, language: according to the teaching language of the applied major, the size is within 50M)
4. Copy of high school graduation certificate (new graduates can provide pre-graduation certificate first)
5. Copy of transcripts of all courses in high school
6. A copy of the language proficiency certificate or a screenshot of the results webpage (the original certificate must be provided for reference during registration)
7. Study and research plans in China. According to the teaching language of the applied major, choose to write in Chinese or English
8. Financial guarantee certificate (download the template at http://apply.shu.edu.cn)
9. Required for under 18 years old Guardian Guarantee(The template can be downloaded at http://apply.shu.edu.cn)
10. No criminal record certificate
Note: If you cannot obtain a certificate of no criminal record in your home country, you can sign the "No Criminal Record Commitment" with the school, and you can download the template at http://apply.shu.edu.cn.
11. At least two works are required to apply for the art major; the music major provides professional related audio and video
Note:
- Documents that are not in Chinese or English must be attached with a notarized or Chinese/English translation provided by the issuing unit;
- You only need to upload the scanned copy of the above materials when applying, and the original copy should be provided for reference when the journal is opened.
