Chinese Government Scholarship
Chinese government scholarships can only be applied through the online application information platform for studying in China: http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/. The SWU website https://swu.17gz.org/member/login.do is only applicable to other scholarships. You can apply online, please do not mail paper application materials (or send electronic materials).
Types of scholarships and duration of study
1. Type A Scholarship
Including country-specific bilateral programs, Great Wall Scholarship Program, China-EU Student Exchange Program, China-AUN Scholarship Program, Pacific Islands Forum Program, etc. The Chinese embassy or consulate in the host country or other designated agency is the accepting agency.
Applicants apply through the online application information platform for studying in China http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn, select "Type A", fill in the code of the receiving institution, and select Southwest University as the "first choice". For details, please refer to the official website of China Scholarship Council www.csc.edu.cn/laihua or www.campuschina.org.
1) Funding categories: undergraduate, master's and doctoral degree education and Chinese language or professional advancement.
2) Subsidy period: including time for professional study and Chinese tuition (preparatory course). See the table below for details.

2. Type B Scholarship
Including Southwest University postgraduate programs and supporting local scholarship programs
Applicants apply through the online application information platform for studying in China http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn, select "Type B", fill in the institution code of Southwest University 10635, and apply to study at the school.
1) Type of funding: only for master's degree students and doctoral students.
2) Funding period: see the table above.
What the scholarship covers
The scholarship covers application fees (Type A), tuition, laboratory fees, internship fees, accommodation fees, living expenses, and comprehensive medical insurance for international students in China. The standard of living expenses is 2500 RMB/month for undergraduate students, 3000 RMB/month for postgraduate students and general scholars, and 3,500 RMB/month for doctoral students and senior scholars.
Applicant qualifications
1. Non-Chinese citizens and in good health.
2. Students who are not studying in China (A type scholarship does not have this requirement).
3. Did not receive any other scholarship funding.
4. Educational background and age requirements:
1) Those who study undergraduate majors must have a high school diploma and be under the age of 25;
2) Those who study for a master's degree must have a bachelor's degree and be under the age of 35;
3) Applicants for a doctorate degree must have a master's degree and be under the age of 40;
4) As a general advanced student learner, he must have a sophomore degree or above, and be under 45 years old;
5) As an advanced advanced student learner, one must have a master's degree or above or an associate professor or above title, and the age should not exceed 50 years old.
Grades and language requirements
1) GPA with a four-point scale of 3.0 or above or a 100-point scale with a score of 80 or above.
2) Chinese language requirements for teaching in Chinese: 180 points or more in HSK 4 for undergraduates; 200 points or more for HSK 4 for masters and doctors.
3) English-taught English requirements: Master's degree requires IELTS 6.0 or above or TOEFL iBT 80 or above; Ph.D. requires IELTS 6.5 or above or TOEFL iBT 85 or above. Undergraduates do not offer English-taught courses. Students whose official language is English can be exempted from TOEFL or IELTS score requirements.
Application and admission procedures
1. Learn about the introduction and acceptance departments of each scholarship program through the China Study Abroad Network (http://www.csc.edu.cn/laihua) and the official website of the International College of Southwest University (http://gjxy.swu.edu.cn) , Application methods and procedures, Southwest University introduction, Southwest University colleges and professional list and other information.
2. Log in to the online application information platform for studying in China by the China Scholarship Council http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/register to register a user name and create a personal account; complete the application in Chinese or English (recommended to use Firefox, IE 11 browser).
3. After logging in to the system, please read the "Online Application Guide" and follow the steps; please note that when you select "A", you should fill in the institution code of the scholarship acceptance agency in your country; you select "B Please fill in the acceptance agency number 10635 of Southwest University. Please make sure to fill in correctly, otherwise you will not be able to continue the online application.
4. Click "Next" and follow the steps listed on the left side of the page to fill in the online application form to ensure that the information is true, accurate and complete.
Note: Applicants must choose a subject and then a major; the major name you choose in the system may not be exactly the same as the major name of Southwest University, and the actual admission major shall prevail. For information about disciplines and majors, please click "Help" to download relevant materials for inquiries.
5. After completing the application form, please preview and submit it online; you can modify the submitted application by clicking "Withdraw and Modify Application". After the application is withdrawn, the applicant must edit and submit it again, otherwise the application will not be accepted.
6. Southwest University organizes on-campus experts to conduct online selection of applicants and submit them to the Chongqing Municipal Education Commission and the China Scholarship Council for review and confirmation.
7. After admission, Southwest University will publish the list of admitted students on the website http://gjxy.swu.edu.cn, and notify the scholarship recipients themselves by email.
8. The "Admission Notice" and the "Visa Application Form" (JW201) are sent around July 15 each year.
9. There is no application fee for A-type scholarship applications. Class B scholarship recipients (CSC numbers include DFH / GXZ / SLJ / ZFY) will pay the application fee of 500 yuan to the front desk of the International College when receiving the admission notice email, or transfer to the following bank account:

Deadline for application
1. Type A Scholarship:
Around March of each year (subject to the announcement time of the domestic acceptance agency)
2. Type B Scholarship:
Support local projects around April every year.
University graduate programs are around June every year.
Southwest University strictly implements the time limit for the completion of admission as notified by the China Scholarship Council. Please pay close attention to the email address you filled in when you applied.
