2021 Chinese Government Scholarship

According to the relevant regulations of the International Department of the Ministry of Education and the China Scholarship Council, combined with the actual situation of our school, the application guidelines for this scholarship program are formulated.

 

1. Introduction to Scholarship

The "University Postgraduate" Chinese Government Scholarship Program was established by the Ministry of Education of China in 2008 to support the construction of high-level universities in China and build a brand of Chinese higher education. A full scholarship program for international students, directly selected and recruited by key Chinese universities Outstanding young foreign students come to China to study. As the enrollment unit of the Chinese Government Scholarship, Sun Yat-sen University recruits international graduate students (masters and doctors) of the scholarship program from all over the world.

 

2. Application conditions

(1) Do not have Chinese nationality and hold a valid foreign passport.

(2) To be in good health and must meet the medical examination standards for applying for a study visa or residence permit in China.

(3) Those who come to China to study for a master's degree must have a degree equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a Chinese university, and the age is no more than 35; those who come to study for a doctoral degree in China must have a degree equivalent to a master's degree in a Chinese university, and the age is not more than 40. .

(4) Friendly to China, diligent and studious, excellent grades, good conduct, abiding by laws and regulations, no record of violations of school rules and regulations, no public security penalties, and no criminal record.

(5) The score of the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) must be at level 5 with a score of 180 and above. Applicants who used Chinese in the previous academic education stage must submit a language certificate issued by the school. After verification by our school, they can be exempted from providing HSK scores.

 

3. Funding content and standards

(1) Free of tuition

(3) Payment of living expenses, the standard is 3,000 yuan/month/person for postgraduate students and 3,500 yuan/month/person for doctoral students

(4) Exemption of comprehensive insurance premiums for international students in China Note: If there is any change in the above funding standards, please refer to the announcement by the Scholarship Council of the year.

 

4. The application process

(1) Online registration by China Scholarship Council. Log in to the Management Information System for Chinese Government Scholarships to Study in China

Fill in the application information (Sun Yat-sen University Institution Code: 10558), submit and print the "Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form" online, with my own signature.

(2) Online application for admission to Sun Yat-sen University. Applicants log on to the "Online Application" on the website of the Office of Foreign Students of Sun Yat-sen University (http://iso.sysu.edu.cn), register an account, and select "Chinese Government Scholarship-Independent Enrollment Program for Chinese Universities" to register. Accurately and accurately Complete the application form and upload the application materials (see below). The application materials must be original in Chinese or English. For documents in other languages, the original documents and notarized Chinese or English translations must be attached.

Transcript

3.1 Master applicants must submit a complete transcript of the undergraduate level.

3.2 Doctoral applicants must submit complete transcripts of master and undergraduate levels.

Fresh students can submit the current transcript first, and the final transcript must be submitted before enrollment.

Language Proficiency Certificate

The Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) must be at level 5 with a score of 180 and above. Applicants who used Chinese in the previous academic education stage must submit a language certificate issued by the school. After verification by our school, they can be exempted from providing HSK scores.

Medical report

The physical examination items are detailed in Attachment 1, which must be filled out in Chinese or English and stamped with the official seal of the hospital. The validity period of the physical examination is 6 months.

Letter of recommendation

Recommendation letters signed by two professors or associate professors, written in Chinese or English (including the autographs of the recommender and the valid contact information of the recommender).

If the recommendation letter is a sealed letter, it is not necessary to upload the electronic version, and send the paper version directly to the school.

Study and Research Program in China

No less than 800 words, written in Chinese or English. If you have a published paper, please submit the abstract of the published paper.

Scholarship Program Application Form

You must scan and upload the "Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form" signed by yourself.

Commitment

You must carefully read the relevant content of Annex 2 "Letter of Commitment", and scan and upload it after being signed by yourself at the signature place.

 

(3) Matters needing attention

1) The applicant shall be responsible for the authenticity and completeness of the submitted materials. If the application materials are false or missing, the application will not be accepted.

2) In addition to the above application materials, applicants must submit other supplementary materials on time according to the requirements of our school. If the supplementary materials are not submitted as required or submitted after the deadline, the application will not be accepted.

3) Applicants must accurately fill in their email address, telephone number and correspondence address. During the admission period, applicants must reply to our school’s emails in time; failure to respond to the emails in a timely manner or fail to submit supplementary materials as required within the specified time shall be deemed to have given up.

 

5. Admissions major

Please refer to Annex 3 and Annex 4 for the enrollment list of international students (Master/Ph.D.) under the Chinese Government Scholarship of Sun Yat-sen University in 2021. The specific enrollment list will be subject to the approval of the Ministry of Education. The major declared by the applicant shall not exceed the enrollment major and professional direction of various scholarships. If the declared profession exceeds the above-mentioned scope, it shall be deemed as an invalid application.

7. Selection procedure

(1) Qualification review Our school will comprehensively review the applicant's foreign identity, highest academic qualifications, academic performance, language level, study and research plan, recommendation opinions, etc, and determine the assessment list.

(2) The assessment is organized by the admissions unit. Generally, one of the following methods is used:

1) Interview

2) Interview plus written test.

The specific assessment method, location and time are determined by each admissions unit and notified to the applicant.

(3) Admission policy Our school will select the best admission based on the applicant's qualification review and assessment results, as well as the professional volunteers reported by the applicant. The admission result is subject to the review and approval of the China Scholarship Council. Our school will announce the admission results through the online registration system. The "Admission Notice" and "Visa Application Form for Studying in China" will be sent from July to August according to the mailing address filled in by the applicant in the online registration system.

(4) Admitted applicants should apply for an X1 visa at the Chinese Embassy (Consulate) with the "Admission Notice" and "Visa Application Form for Foreigners Studying in China", and convert the X1 visa to a study-type residence permit within 30 days of entry , Those who fail to go through the relevant procedures within the time limit will be disqualified for admission. The school does not accept students with non-study visas to register for admission. Those who have expired visas or residence certificates are not allowed to stay on campus or carry out activities.

 

8. Other instructions

(1) The admitted students must come to the school to complete the registration and registration procedures according to the registration date and registration location required in the "Admission Notice". Early registration of students is not accepted. Those who fail to register without approval will be deemed to have given up their admission qualifications and the scholarship qualifications will be cancelled.

(2) In accordance with the relevant regulations and requirements of the Ministry of Education, our school will conduct physical examinations and re-examination of admission qualifications for all admitted applicants after enrollment. Anyone who fails to meet the admission requirements or falsifies will be disqualified for admission or student status, and the scholarship qualification will be cancelled.

(3) Participate in the annual review of the scholarship as required. Those who fail the assessment will be suspended or disqualified from the scholarship.
