1. Chinese Government Scholarship

Country-specific bilateral programs: "Country-specific bilateral programs" are full scholarships or partial scholarships based on educational cooperation and exchange agreements or consensus reached between China and relevant governments, institutions, schools, and international organizations. The funding categories include undergraduate students, master's students, doctoral students, general scholars, and senior scholars. Scholarships include full scholarships and half scholarships. Applicants can submit an application to the international student dispatch department of their home country. For specific information such as the application deadline, please consult the foreign student dispatch department of your home country. By applying for a pre-admission notice from Tianjin University, applicants can increase their chances of obtaining scholarships for bilateral projects in different countries.

The Ministry of Commerce's Foreign Aid Project: In order to further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with countries around the world, and cultivate more elite talents for developing countries, the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China has specially established the "Special Program for Foreign Aid Advanced Degree Education". This special project focuses on subsidizing young and middle-aged Chinese friends from the recipient countries to study for a master's or doctoral degree in China. Priority is given to English-taught courses for professional courses. If the courses are taught in Chinese, 1-2 years of Chinese language study must be conducted before the professional study. The scholarship includes tuition fees, free on-campus accommodation, living expenses, one-time round-trip international air tickets, and comprehensive medical insurance. Applicants can apply to the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy (Consulate) in their country. The deadline is usually April 30 each year. Applicants can increase their chances of obtaining scholarships from the Ministry of Commerce by applying to Tianjin University for the pre-admission notice.

China-ASEAN Elite Scholarship Program: The "China-ASEAN Elite Scholarship" is used to subsidize citizens of ASEAN member countries to study for master's or doctoral degrees, short-term advanced studies or short-term group training programs in China, and fully fund students' study or research in China The related expenses include: tuition, accommodation, living expenses, international travel expenses, one-time placement fee, and comprehensive insurance fee. As a top-ranking university in China, Tianjin University has undertaken the recruitment and training of scholarships for this project since 2019. Applicants should apply to the ACYLS national focal points authority within the specified time. The application period is generally from early January to early April of the current year. University Graduate Program: The Chinese Government Scholarship-University Graduate Program is a full scholarship provided by the Ministry of Education of China to some high-level universities in China to directly select and recruit outstanding foreign young students to study for a graduate degree in China. As a first-class university in China, Tianjin University has undertaken the recruitment and training of scholarship students for this project since 2008. The scholarship includes tuition, accommodation, living expenses, and comprehensive insurance. The application time is usually from December of the previous year to mid-March of the following year. "Silk Road" project: In order to deepen educational cooperation with countries along the "Belt and Road" and to train talents for countries along the route, the Ministry of Education of China has established the "Silk Road" Chinese Government Scholarship Program for International Students in China since 2017. Some high-level universities in China directly select and recruit outstanding young students from countries along the “Belt and Road” to study for a degree in China. Tianjin University has undertaken the enrollment and training of scholarship students for this project since 2017. The scholarship includes tuition, accommodation, living expenses, and comprehensive insurance. The application time is usually from December of the previous year to mid-March of the following year. "China-Africa Friendship" Project: The "China-Africa Friendship" Chinese Government Scholarship Program is a full scholarship funded by the Ministry of Education of China. It is used by some Chinese universities to independently recruit outstanding students from African countries to study in China for postgraduate studies. Tianjin University has undertaken the enrollment and training of scholarship students for this project since 2019. The scholarship includes tuition, accommodation, living expenses, and comprehensive insurance. The application time is usually from December of the previous year to mid-March of the following year. China Europe, China, and the United States, "Canada Study in China" and world-renowned university credit programs: In order to encourage domestic efficient and active expansion of cooperation with well-known universities in Europe, the United States, Canada, and other countries and regions, the Ministry of Education of China has implemented the China-Europe, Special scholarship programs for credit students from China and the United States, "Canada in China" and world-renowned universities. As a project undertaking institution, Tianjin University is responsible for enrolling and training students from partner institutions in the above-mentioned regions. The content of this scholarship includes living expenses. Students should apply to their university, and be recommended by the university for review and admission, and come to the university for exchange study within the specified time of the project.

 

2. International Chinese Teacher Scholarship

The International Chinese Teacher Scholarship is mainly for outstanding students from Confucius Institutes (Classrooms), winners of the "Chinese Bridge" competition, overseas Chinese teachers, outstanding graduates of Chinese majors, outstanding HSK test scores, or those who are interested in international Chinese education. Through this scholarship, Tianjin University can enroll a master's degree in Chinese International Education, one-year research students, one-semester research students, and four-week research students. Applicants must be non-Chinese nationals who are physically and mentally healthy and have no record of bad behavior, aged between 18 and 35 years old. The full funding of the International Chinese Teacher Scholarship includes tuition, free on-campus accommodation, living expenses, and comprehensive medical insurance. Applicants can log on to the International Chinese Teacher Scholarship website (cis.Chinese.cn) to submit application materials online for application.

 

3. Tianjin Municipal Government Scholarship

The Tianjin Municipal Government Scholarship is provided by the Tianjin Municipal Government to support outstanding foreign students to study in Tianjin universities. Tianjin University is responsible for the recruitment, admission, and daily management of the scholarship students. Scholarships are divided into full scholarships and half scholarships. The funding period is one year. Both freshmen and current students can apply.

 

4. Tianjin University Scholarship

The Tianjin University Scholarship was established in 2016 and is mainly used to subsidize outstanding foreign students to study for undergraduate, master, and doctoral degrees in Tianjin University. The scholarship includes tuition subsidy and living expenses subsidy. The subsidy period is one year. Both freshmen and current students can apply.

 

5. Beiyang Future Scholars Scholarship

The Beiyang Future Scholars Scholarship was established by Tianjin University in 2020. It is mainly used to fund outstanding and high-level international students to study for a doctoral degree at Tianjin University. The scholarship is based on the funding standards of the Chinese government scholarship, and the content includes tuition subsidies, accommodation, and living expenses.

 

6. Seeking Truth Scholarship

The Qiushi Scholarship was established by Tianjin University in 2021 and is mainly used to subsidize outstanding foreign students to study for an undergraduate degree at Tianjin University. The scholarship is based on the funding standards of the Chinese government scholarship, and the content includes tuition subsidies, accommodation, and living expenses.
