1. Project brief

At present, the University of the Chinese Academy of Sciences has more than 20 colleges and more than 100 research institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. The information of major, tutor, college, and Research Institute can be found on the English website of the University of science and technology.

The length of doctoral study is generally three years. At the end of the study period, those who have completed the training plan and passed the thesis defense will be awarded the graduation certificate and the doctor's degree.

2. Application conditions

3. Application time

Those who apply for admission in the autumn of 2021 should complete the online application procedures from December 1, 2020, to May 31, 2021. For those who have applied to the University of science and technology for scholarships, please complete the application procedures for the corresponding scholarship projects before the deadline of a scholarship application, i.e. March 31, 2021.

Those who apply for admission in the spring of 2022 should complete the online application procedures from June 1, 2021, to November 30, 2021.

4. Application steps

4.1 The applicant is determined to be eligible for application

Applicants need to make sure that they meet the application requirements of this project, contact them by themselves, and get a tutor from the National University of Science and Technology to accept. Admissions tutor information can be inquired through the English website of the National University of Science and Technology. After the applicant finds a tutor that matches his scientific research interests, he needs to send his resume, research plan, and other application-related materials to the tutor, and state in the email that he wants to apply for the National University of Science and Technology Ph.D. program.

4.2 Applicants select doctoral program online and submit an application for admission

Log in to the National University of Science and Technology International Student Online Application System, fill in personal information according to the prompts, and upload the following personal materials:

• Scanned copy of the personal information page of ordinary passport: the validity period of the passport must be2More than years. According to Article 3 of the Nationality Law of the People's Republic of China, those who were originally Chinese citizens and later became foreign nationals must also provide proof of non-Chinese household registration.
• Two-inch recent photo without headgear: preferably the same as the photo on the personal information page of the passport.
• Resume: It should contain a more detailed introduction to scientific research experience.
• Physical Examination Form for Foreigners (Attachment2）；
• Final academic certificate;
• Fresh graduates can submit the pre-graduation certificate issued by the school they are studying, but they must obtain the certificate from the school before registering for admission./The institute submits the degree certificate to the International Students Office of the National University of Science and Technology;
• Final academic transcript;
• Proof of English or Chinese proficiency;
• Detailed research plan;
• Home page and abstract (if any) of published papers: most submitted5A representative paper. Please do not provide unpublished papers;
• Recommendation letters from two professors or scholars with equivalent titles: The recommender should be experts and scholars in related fields who are familiar with the applicant's research work. The recommender should not be the mentor who intends to accept the student. The letter of recommendation must be made of paper from the recommender’s unit, and must be signed and dated by the recommender;
• Proof of funding: applicants who have received scholarships or related funding support, please attach a certificate of funding; those who plan to study in China at their own expense, please attach a financial guarantee letter and a bank certificate (original or notarized) issued by the guarantor; apply to the National University of Science and TechnologyUCASPart of the scholarship received tuition subsidy (part or all of the tuition fee is exempted), please complete the application procedures for the scholarship of the project;
• Registration fee payment voucher: After the training unit has passed the online admission application of international students, the online application system will automatically send an email to the tutor, explaining the method for the tutor to log in to the online application system and the procedures to be completed.

4.3 Matters needing attention:

• All proofs and certificates uploaded must be original or notarized copies in Chinese or English. For documents in other languages, the original document and the notarized English or Chinese translation must be uploaded at the same time. Please use a scanner to scan and upload relevant documents in color. Documents taken by mobile phones or cameras are not accepted, and copies are not accepted.
• In the process of reviewing the uploaded application materials, the school may require some applicants to provide the original written version of the application materials/Notarized copies or certification documents issued by designated certification bodies for further inspection. Applicants should ensure that the application information and application materials provided are true and accurate, otherwise, the admission qualification will be canceled.
• If the application materials are incomplete or do not meet the requirements, the information filled in is incorrect and will not be accepted.
• Applicants must not apply to two colleges at the same time/The institute submits the application materials for admission, and cannot apply for two or more tutors at the same time.
• Please choose your study major and research direction carefully, and submit your application after communicating with your supervisor. After enrollment, the National University of Science and Technology will not accept this type of change application.
• Applicants should not directly send paper application materials to the International Students Office of the National University of Science and Technology. Any application materials will not be returned.
• Those who apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship or the International Student Scholarship of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences can be exempted from paying the registration fee.
• Under any circumstances, the registration fee is non-refundable.
• Please prepare carefully. Generally, no amendments will be returned after submitting the application.

5. Examination and admission

National University of Science and Technology adopts an "application-Review system", that is, the selection and admission of international postgraduates through review of application materials and re-examination. Application materials are approved by relevant colleges/The research institute expert group reviews and select the candidates for the re-examination. The retest is generally carried out in the following way: (1) Interview, (2) Interview+written examination,(3) Exemption. The specific method, location, and time are determined by the relevant college/The institute determines and informs applicants who enter the retest.

According to the comprehensive evaluation of application materials and re-examination results, the National University of Science and Technology selects the best candidates to determine the list of admissions. Admission results can be inquired through the online admission application system. "Chinese Academy of Sciences University Admission Notice", "Foreign Study Visa Application Form" (JW202/201Table), and other relevant materials will be mailed to the students themselves.

6. Visa application and registration

Admitted applicants should take the ordinary passport used to apply for admission, the "University Admission Notice of the Chinese Academy of Sciences", "Visa Application Form for Foreigners Studying in China", "Foreigner Physical Examination Record" and all original physical examination reports to go to the Chinese Embassy in the international arena The embassy (consulate) of the student's country shall apply for a study visa in China. Please keep the admission notice andJW202/201The original form for the residence permit application after entry. Please do not enter the country without a visa or with other types of visas.

Admitted persons should register for admission according to the date and designated place specified in the "Notice of Admission to the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences". If you fail to report on time, you should obtain prior approval from the school.

7. Fees and scholarships

7.1 Cost

• Registration fee: RMB 600 yuan. The application fee is non-refundable regardless of whether you are admitted or not.
• Tuition: Science and Engineering: RMB 40,000 yuan/people/Academic year; liberal arts: people RMB 34,000 yuan/people/school year.
• Comprehensive medical insurance premium for foreign students studying in China: One-year term: people 800 yuan/people; half a year: people 400 yuan/people。
• Accommodation fee: double people room: people 900 yuan/people/month.
• Other expenses: outpatient and emergency medical expenses are paid by the insurance company according to the medical insurance scheme.

Meals, transportation, experiments, conferences, and training outside the training plan are all paid by the people on demand.

7.2 Matters needing attention:

The number of international student dormitories is limited. Students who have not booked successfully must contact off-campus accommodation by themselves.

7.3 Scholarship

• Chinese Government Scholarship

Under the Chinese Government Scholarship, there are country-specific bilateral programs, China-EU student exchange programs, and China-ASEAN University Organization Scholarship Programs to support students from relevant countries to study for graduate degrees in China. The scholarship includes tuition fee exemption, registration fee, living expenses, basic accommodation and medical insurance on campus, etc. For details, please refer to the website of the China Scholarship Council.

National University of Science and Technology is a Chinese Government Scholarship institution. Eligible applicants can apply for a Chinese Government Scholarship directly to the National Natural Science Foundation of China through the recommendation of relevant departments of their country and Chinese embassies and consulates abroad. The application time is generally the last year11Month to the current year4month. The deadline for applications varies from country to country, so please check in advance. If you need to provide the National University of Science and Technology Pre-admission certificate when applying, please contact the National University of Science and Technology International Students Office in advance.

Applicants can also apply for a Chinese Government Scholarship through the recommendation of the National University of Science and Technology. However, this type of Chinese Government Scholarship recommends fewer places and is limited to outstanding foreign young people who are not currently studying in China. • Chinese Academy of Sciences "One Belt One Road" International Science Organization Alliance Scholarship

This scholarship provides a full scholarship for outstanding young people from all over the world to study for a postgraduate degree at the National University of Science and Technology of China. The funding includes exemption of tuition and registration fees, provision of living expenses and medical insurance. For details of the program, application qualifications, and application methods, please refer to the English website of the National University of Science and Technology. National University of Science and Technology is one of the funding agencies for this project. Those who meet the conditions can submit relevant materials in accordance with their application procedures.

• International Student Scholarships of University of Chinese Academy of Sciences

This scholarship provides full scholarships and partial scholarships for outstanding foreign young people to study for postgraduate degrees at the National University of Science and Technology. Full scholarship funding includes exemption of tuition fees, basic accommodation, living expenses, and medical insurance. Part of the scholarship usually includes two contents: exemption of tuition fees and provision of medical insurance. For details, application qualifications, and application methods, please refer to the English website of National Science and Technology University.
