School Profile

 

The University of International Business and Economics is a national key university directly under the Ministry of Education. The first batch of "Project 211" and the first batch of "Double First-Class" construction universities are located in the Chaoyang District of Beijing, the capital. The school campus has exquisite planning and an elegant environment. It is one of the important bases for talent training and scientific research in China's socialist economic construction.

 

The predecessor of the school was a senior business cadre school, founded in 1951, under the dual leadership of the Central Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Education. In 1952, the Central Ministry of Trade was abolished, and the school was placed under the dual leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and the Ministry of Education. In 1953, the school was renamed Beijing Foreign Trade College and was led by the Ministry of Foreign Trade entrusted by the Ministry of Education. In 1954, the Foreign Trade Department of the Department of Trade of Renmin University of China was merged into the Beijing Foreign Trade College, and the Beijing Foreign Trade College was established on the basis of the Beijing Foreign Trade College. In 1984, the school has renamed the University of International Business and Economics. In June 2000, the former China University of Finance and the former University of International Business and Economics merged to form the new University of International Business and Economics, which was placed under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education. In December 2010, the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Commerce formally signed an agreement to jointly build the University of International Business and Economics. After several generations of arduous entrepreneurship and hard work by teachers, students and staff, the University of International Business and Economics has developed into six major categories of economics, management, law, liberal arts, science, and engineering, with international economics and trade, law (International Economic Law) , Finance, Business Administration, Foreign Languages ​​(Business Foreign Languages) and other advantageous majors are multidisciplinary financial and foreign language universities featuring disciplines. At present, the school has a graduate school and 18 colleges, and has a sports department; it has 2 national key disciplines, 1 national humanities and social science key research base, 1 strategic research (cultivation) base of the Ministry of Education, and education strategy 1 center for planning and research, 2 bases for the "Higher Education Discipline Innovation Project", 1 Cultural and Tourism Research Base of the Ministry of Culture, 1 Beijing High-precision Discipline, 7 Beijing Key Disciplines, Beijing Philosophy and Society There is 1 scientific research base, 1 high-end think tank in the capital, 6 post-doctoral mobile stations, 7 first-level discipline doctoral programs, 11 first-level discipline master programs, 12 professional master's degree authorized programs, and 49 undergraduate programs.

 

The school has more than 1,600 faculty members, including more than 1,000 full-time teachers. The school also employs a certain number of part-time teachers and foreign experts. This is a place where elites gather. Famous old professors are dazzling and young and middle-aged teachers are emerging. A large number of experts and scholars who have received special government allowances and are hired as members of government academic institutions work in the front line of teaching and research; most of the young and middle-aged teachers have studied abroad or had advanced studies, and have a high level of teaching and research. The school currently has more than 16,000 students, including more than 8,500 undergraduates, more than 5,600 postgraduates, and more than 2,300 students studying in China. The academic research of the school occupies an important position in the field of my country's foreign economic and trade scientific research, with more than 140 research units, of which the China WTO Academy is the only national humanities and social science research base for the World Trade Organization in the country. There are more than 1.9 million volumes (pieces) of literature in the school library. The school sponsors and publicly distributes a variety of academic journals, including "International Trade Issues", "International Business-Journal of University of International Business and Economics", "Japanese Language Learning and Research", "Journal of WTO and China" (WTO and China), etc. Higher academic status. The school publishing house publishes more than one hundred kinds of books every year and enjoys a high reputation among universities. The school is also one of the national bases for training senior economic management cadres, and has a number of senior on-the-job training institutions commissioned by the government or jointly established with foreign countries.

 

The school took the lead in establishing a school board in China in November 1989. Li Lanqing was the first chairman of the school board, Rong Yiren and Fok Yingdong were honorary chairmen, and Wu Yi was the second chairman of the school board. In September 2011, the third meeting of the school council elected Shi Jianjun as the third chairman of the school council, and Shi Guangsheng, Liu Hongru, and Chen Yuan as the honorary chairmen. The establishment of the school board has played an important role in the construction and development of the school.

 

The school has received extensive attention and support at home and abroad during its development: government agencies, entrepreneurs, consortia, large companies, etc. have donated funds or scholarships to the school, and many internationally renowned multinational companies have become sponsors of the school. At present, social forces have set up more than 20 scholarships and teaching grants in schools, and there are even more department-level funds. The school has established cooperative and exchange relations with more than 280 well-known universities and research institutions in 51 countries and regions including the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Japan, Russia, Italy, and Australia.
