Admissions Guide for Undergraduate 

(1). Eligibility for application

1. A foreign citizen who is in good health, good conduct, and has the equivalent of a Chinese general high school graduation.

2. Excellent academic performance, provide the following transcripts (including but not limited to):

2.1 Official transcript provided by the high school (original or notarized copy of the English or Chinese version of the transcript)

2.2 National/Region Unified High School Exam Transcript

2.3 Internationally accepted standardized test scores

2.4 Applicants who have already studied in China need to provide proof of original school performance;

3. As of September 1st of the enrollment year, be 18 years old (inclusive); applicants who are still under the age of 18 must submit a guardian guarantee letter when applying.

4. Chinese level

4.1, Medical applicants who have reached HSK level 4 (inclusive) or above, and liberal arts applicants who have reached HSK level 5 (inclusive) or above, can directly enter Chinese-taught majors; applicants for the first-year Chinese language undergraduate major of the International Education College do not need to provide HSK level certificate.

4.2 Those who do not meet the required Chinese proficiency can apply for advanced Chinese studies. After the Chinese proficiency meets the requirements of the school, they can apply to study in a professional department;

5. English level

Applicants for English-taught programs whose native language is not English must provide proof of English proficiency, with a TOEFL score of 80 and an IELTS score of 5.5. If a standardized English test certificate cannot be provided, an English written test or interview is required.

6. Chinese learning background requirements

If both or one of the parents is a Chinese citizen or obtains foreign nationality after immigrating to foreign countries from Mainland China (Mainland), Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan, according to the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China Jiaowaihan [2020] No. 12, naturalization is required for 4 years (including ) Above, and have a record of actual residence in a foreign country for more than 2 years in the last 4 years (until April 30, 2021).

Applicants who have completed high school studies in China are required to provide personal birth certificates and parental nationality certificates.

 

(2) Application process

within the application period, register and log in, fill in the "Wuhan University Foreign Student Admission Application Form" truthfully and completely as required, and upload it according to the system requirements Attach the relevant certificate and pay the registration fee.

 

2. Comprehensive evaluation

2.1 Material review

For applicants who submit applications and related certificates on time, the application materials are complete and true, otherwise, they will be regarded as unqualified applications.

2.2 Assessment and interview

Applicants who have passed the material review will enter the interview, and the interview time and method will be notified later. Particularly outstanding applicants can be admitted without an interview after expert review.

 

3. Visa application

Admitted applicants should submit ordinary passports, "Admission Notice", "Visa Application Form for Studying in China", "Foreigner Physical Examination Record" and all physical examination (including blood examination) reports in the admission documents before entering China. According to their study period, apply for a student (X1 or X2) visa to the Chinese embassy or consulate in their country of nationality or residence or other foreign institutions entrusted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China.

Note: If you are admitted without a student visa, Wuhan University will not be able to register for it.

(4) the academic system and the award and award of degrees

The undergraduate system of Wuhan University is four years (five years for architecture majors, five years for clinical medicine taught in Chinese, and six years for clinical medicine taught in English), with Chinese teaching (some majors are taught in English). Complete the required teaching plan, pass the assessment, pass the graduation thesis defense, and issue a bachelor's degree certificate. After passing the degree review, a bachelor's degree will be awarded.

(7) Application, admission, and registration time

1. Application time

1.1 Self-supported students

The application period is from November 10, 2020, to June 30, 2021.

1.2 Chinese government scholarship students

The application period is generally from the beginning of December 2020 to March 31, 2021.

1.3 Confucius Institute Scholarship Students

The application period is generally from early March 2021 to early May 2021.

2. Admission time

3. Registration time

The registration time for international students is from September 1 to 10 each year. For details, please refer to the freshman admission notice.

When registering, you need to bring complete registration materials, including the original personal ordinary passport (diplomatic passport and passport for public affairs are not accepted), the original admission notice, and visa application form (JW202/JW201), and the entry student visa. Freshmen must bring the required Chinese or English degree certificates and original transcripts or original notarized copies for the school to review their admission qualifications. Those who do not meet the admission requirements will be disqualified from admission.

 

(8) Accommodation

The International Education College will arrange on-campus accommodation for freshmen who register within the specified time.
