2021 MOFCOM Scholarship Program 

To further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with countries around the world and cultivate more elite talents for developing countries, the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China has specially established the "Special Program for Foreign Aid Advanced Degree Education"

(hereinafter referred to as the "Special Program").

The special plan has been implemented since 2015, focusing on subsidizing middle-aged and young Chinese friends from recipient countries to study for a master's or doctoral degree in China, and entrusting the China National Scholarship Council to organize the implementation.

The Wuhan University of Technology is one of the cooperative institutions of the MOFCOM project of the Ministry of Commerce. 1. Funding category, duration, and language of instruction

(1) Funding category and duration

Master's degree students: 3 academic years

Doctoral research student: 3rd grade

2. Application method and time

Applicants can apply to the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy (Consulate) in their country, and the deadline is May 31, 2021.


3. Application conditions

(1) People from developing countries who are not Chinese nationals must be under the age of 45 in good health (born after September 1, 1976).

(2) Physical and mental health, provide a health certificate or physical examination form issued by a local public hospital, and there are no diseases that prohibit entry and long-term stay in China under Chinese laws and regulations. No severe hypertension, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, diabetes, cancer and other serious chronic diseases, mental diseases, or infectious diseases that may cause major harm to public health, recovery from major operations and acute illness, severe disability. Women who are pregnant are not allowed to study in China. If they become pregnant while studying in China, they will be dropped out of school.

(3) Those who apply for a master's degree must have a bachelor's degree; those who apply for a doctoral degree must have a master's degree.

(4) Those who have a professional study or work background related to the applied project and who are employed are preferred.

(5) Serving as a public official at the department level or above (or corresponding level) in the government department of the host country, senior management personnel of various institutions and enterprises, academic backbones of universities, and scientific research institutions.

(6) Good level of English language, able to use the English language proficiently in professional courses (reference standard: IELTS score 6.0 and above, or new TOEFL score of 80 and above).

(7) Possess a potential for career development in this field, and intend to promote friendly exchanges and cooperation between the host country and China.

(8) Students who have been selected by other Chinese government scholarship categories are not allowed to apply.


4. Scholarship content

(1) Exempt from tuition fees, textbook materials fees, research and investigation fees, English teaching subsidies, and graduation thesis guidance fees;

(2) Provide on-campus accommodation for free;

(3) Provide living allowance: 36,000 yuan/person/year for master's degree, 42,000 yuan/person/year for the doctoral degree;

(4) Give a one-time resettlement fee of 3000 yuan/person;

(5) Coming to China comprehensive medical insurance;

(6) Free round-trip international air tickets: one time for 1-year system, one round-trip international air ticket for more than 2 years, and n-1 (n is the number of academic years, n is less than or equal to 3) return air tickets for family visits.

(7) All degree students must participate in the annual review, and those who meet the academic performance test can continue to enjoy the full scholarship in the second year.

(8) The Ministry of Commerce only provides subsidies within the academic system for students. Students who postpone their graduation due to some reasons will not receive further funding.


5. Application method

(1) Complete the online registration and submit the following materials:

 "Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship";

Complete the online registration and print the application form through the "Chinese Government Scholarship Management Information System for Studying in China"

And enter from the "Chinese Government Scholarship Management Information System for Studying in China" icon, see the attachment for details);

 A copy of the highest degree certificate;

Copy of academic transcript;

Study plan and resume in China;

Two recommendation letters: including one unit recommendation letter and one academic recommendation letter;

A copy of the "Physical Examination Form for Foreigners";

Copy of English language test score report;

A copy of the passport within the validity period;

No criminal record certificate.


(2) Important notes:

All submitted materials should be written in English or Chinese (printed). If the submitted documents contain non-English or Chinese written (printed), certified English or Chinese translations should be provided.

"Graduation Certificate", "Degree Certificate", "Transcript", "Language Proficiency Certificate", "Foreigner Physical Examination Form" and other important documents, in addition to submitting copies, the originals must also be submitted for the Chinese Embassy Verification by the staff of the Economic and Commercial Office.

All paper documents (including originals and photocopies) should be returned together after verification by the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy and kept in a safe place. Once you are admitted, these paper documents should be brought to China and handed over to the designated department of the school for review and archive.

It is not allowed to bring your spouse or children to China to accompany you. The scholarship does not provide various expenses for the spouse or children to visit relatives in China.

The Chinese government will not provide explanations regardless of whether they are admitted or not.

Applications that have not been recommended by the Economic and Commercial Office of the Chinese Embassy will not be accepted.
