XISU becomes a member of "academic influence"
After the preliminary preparation application by the Advanced Translation Institute on behalf of the school, our school has been formally approved as a member unit of the United Nations "The United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI)" a few days ago. This is the first time that our school has joined the United Nations Educational Research Institute and officially entered the United Nations academic network. It has achieved a "zero breakthrough" in the establishment of a direct cooperation relationship between our school and the academic departments of international organizations and marked a new level of international schooling of our school. It has laid a solid foundation for the overall improvement of the quality and level of the school’s international education during the 14th Five-Year Plan.
The United Nations "Academic Influence" project was initiated by the United Nations. It aims to establish partnerships with higher education and research institutions around the world through the United Nations to publicize and promote the ten basic principles derived from the United Nations Charter, covering human rights, culture, and In areas such as sustainable development and dispute resolution, we will jointly advocate the concept of peace and development. The project was officially launched at the headquarters of the United Nations in New York on November 18, 2010. More than a thousand universities and research institutions from more than 140 countries around the world have become members of the project. Among them, there are about 50 university members in my country, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, University of Hong Kong, etc.
As a member unit, our school will carry out at least one activity to support the "academic influence" project every year by the requirements of the project and abiding by its ten basic principles. The school will be authorized to use the United Nations "Academic Influence" project logo in activities-related materials, and related activities will be reported on the United Nations newsletter and website at the same time.
During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, our school aims to cultivate international talents that meet the urgent needs of national and local development, adhering to the concept of openness, giving full play to unique advantages, innovating and reforming and developing, improving service efficiency, and significantly improving the quality and level of international education. Through signing and cooperating with 270 colleges and universities and scientific research institutions in nearly 50 countries and regions around the world; actively initiate and join the "China-Japan Humanities Exchange University Alliance", "Global Foreign Language University Alliance" and other international university organizations; hold the "8th" International academic conferences such as the Asia-Pacific Translation Forum" and "The Second Global Alliance of University Presidents Forum"; hosted a series of activities such as French President Macron, former Russian Deputy Prime Minister Gorodets, and former Pakistani Prime Minister Aziz, etc. The school's language major and foreign affairs characteristic advantages serve the economic and social development of our province, serve the country's opening to the outside world, and the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind. It has become the "golden card" for foreign exchanges in Shaanxi Province.
As the first joint member of the International Translators Alliance in Mainland China and the only founding unit of the World Translation Education Alliance in Midwest China, the School of Advanced Translation has been committed to serving the school, our province, and the country’s foreign exchanges at the beginning of its establishment, and has successively hosted many international conferences. The teachers and students of the college have undertaken more than one hundred international conferences, simultaneous interpretation, consecutive interpretation, and accompanying interpretation for Chinese and foreign national leaders and provincial and ministerial leaders. Many teachers of the college have been selected into the "Shaanxi Province High-end Translation Talent Pool", among which Dr. Liang Ying is a UN contracted translator. During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, the Advanced Translation Institute will combine professional advantages and talent training characteristics, and use a more solid pace to promote the school's internationalization of school to achieve high-quality and connotative development; it will firmly grasp the general requirements of the school for improving quality and efficiency, Cooperate with the school system to optimize the layout of the global cooperation network; will actively adapt to the great changes in the world unseen in a century, and actively integrate into the humanities exchanges between our province and the country; will uphold the concept of peace and development, extensively build cooperation platforms with international organizations, and participate in the world Educational governance effectively promotes global sustainable development.
