1. College Overview

The School of International Cultural Exchange was established in July 2009, and its predecessor was the School of Chinese Language Education. The college is guided by Xi Jinping’s theory of socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, based on the development principle of “based on the current, focusing on the future, creating characteristics, and forming a brand”, with the construction of the subject connotation as the core, and the goal of improving the quality of education and teaching to create research The characteristic is the starting point, focusing on the school-running ideas of "humanistic care, scientific management, cultural experience, and professional practice", and constantly broaden the development platform, standardize the operating mechanism, and innovate the training model. At present, the college has formed a foreign student education system that includes graduate education, undergraduate education, and non-degree language education. It has become the backbone of the autonomous region’s international promotion of the Chinese language and the education of foreign students, and a base for the dissemination of Chinese culture.

At present, the college has the enrollment direction of linguistics and applied linguistics under the doctoral program of Chinese language and literature, two second-level degree programs of linguistics and applied linguistics, and a master's degree in Chinese international education. There is a major in Chinese international education (China Students), Chinese majors (undergraduate of Chinese language education for international students, undergraduate business Chinese at their own expense, and Russian-Chinese translation) 2 undergraduate majors. The college has strong faculty. Among the current full-time teachers, there are 2 professors, 19 associate professors, 17 doctors (7 are currently studying), and 2 foreign teachers of Russian.

 

2. Professional introduction

Chinese International Education Major

The International Chinese Language Education Major (formerly the Major of Chinese as a Foreign Language) is guided by General Secretary Xi Jinping’s systematic expositions on education and the spirit of the National Education Conference. It adapts to the new situation of Chinese international communication, relies on the unique advantages of the core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt, and adheres to theory and Emphasize both practice, morality, and education, pay attention to the systematic construction of students' Chinese teaching ability, Chinese culture communication ability, and cross-cultural communication ability, aiming to cultivate compound and application-oriented socialist builders and successors.

The major of Chinese International Education continues to expand foreign exchanges and cooperation, and establishes a joint training mechanism with Shanghai East China Normal University and Northwest Normal University, and selects 2-3 outstanding students each year for one year of exchange and study. At the same time, through the signing of professional internship base agreements with the National University of Tajikistan, the National University of Kyrgyzstan, Osh State University, Alatau University, Kazakhstan Shymkent Technical College, and Belarusian State University, the establishment of a professional internship base for students Practice platform.

Main courses: Modern Chinese, Ancient Chinese, Introduction to Linguistics, Ancient Literature, Modern and Contemporary Literature, General Theory of Chinese Culture, Introduction to Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, Classroom Teaching Theory and Practice, Intercultural Communication, Overview of Chinese and Foreign Cultures, Chinese Talent Skills, Foreign Affairs Management, Second foreign language (English or Russian).

Training goals: Adhere to the education and teaching principles of equal emphasis on knowledge, ability, and quality, relying on Xinjiang's unique advantages as the core area of the "Belt and Road", the policy advantages of international Chinese education, and the advantages of teachers who have been engaged in international Chinese education for a long time, and cultivate a solid basic knowledge of Chinese And the ability to teach Chinese as a second language theory and practice, have a more comprehensive understanding of Chinese literature, Chinese culture, and cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, and have the potential to further cultivate interdisciplinary Chinese international education talents, and be able to work in various teaching institutions at home and abroad. Practically applied linguistics talents engaged in related work in press and publishing, cultural management, and other institutions and industries.

Employment destination: mainly to go abroad to serve as a Chinese volunteer, go to school for graduate school, study abroad, work in government departments or enterprises and institutions, teach in middle schools or language training institutions, etc. So far, many students have been admitted to the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Fudan University, Beijing Language and Culture University, and other well-known universities for master's degrees, and the employment rate of the school's various majors are among the best.

 

3. Feature introduction

(1) Constructing a "2.5+0.5+1" professional training model

"2.5": That is, in the first 5 semesters, students use the domestic learning stage to learn professional knowledge in-depth and have preliminary cross-cultural cognition and understanding.

"0.5": That is, in the 6th semester, students will conduct language and cultural practice internships abroad for one semester to consolidate language skills and exercise cross-cultural communication skills.

"1": That is, in the 7th to 8th semesters, students combine their domestic and foreign learning and practical experiences, carry out targeted learning and supplements, scientifically and rationally adjust the development direction and goals, and make full preparations for graduation and employment.

The implementation of this training model has enabled students to have more comprehensive professional abilities, broader employment directions, and more diverse employment channels. In recent years, the pass rate of Chinese volunteers in the country has continued to reach 100%. Students have strong adaptability and good work performance, which has been widely praised by employers.

 

(2) Optimize and innovate the "Chinese Talent Course" system

The college incorporates traditional Chinese culture courses such as martial arts, paper-cutting, Chinese painting, and calligraphy into the curriculum system, and sets up 7 elective courses for Chinese talent skills (martial arts, dance, music, calligraphy, Chinese painting, tea art, and handicraft) in the teaching plan to form traditional musical instruments More than ten Chinese talent and cultural associations, such as ceremonial host, quyi, etc., implement the teaching style of Chinese and foreign students in the same class, social flow, competition on the same stage, and cooperation on the same field, gradually improving the ability of cross-cultural communication and the ability of Chinese culture communication.

 

(3) Constructing an "integrated" teaching practice system

With the help of the Confucius Institute platform, the college cooperated with the National University of Tajikistan, the National University of Kyrgyzstan, Osh State University, Alatau University, and Shymkent Engineering Fan College of Kazakhstan in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2017, respectively. , Belarusian State University signed an agreement on overseas professional internship bases. Students will go abroad for one semester of language learning and cultural activities in the form of inter-school exchange students. Through teaching observation, apprenticeship, research, and teaching practice links, a teaching practice system of "jointly running schools, simultaneous teaching and learning, all-around improvement, and equal emphasis on learning and application" has been formed.
