Chinese Government Marine Scholarship Program

1. Introduction to Scholarship

The State Oceanic Administration of China and the Ministry of Education jointly established the Chinese Government Marine Scholarship (hereinafter referred to as the Marine Scholarship), which aims to provide outstanding young people from the South China Sea, Pacific, and Indian Ocean neighboring countries and regions as well as African and American developing countries to study marine and related majors in China. Master's or doctoral degrees provide funding to train senior talents in related majors for developing countries in the region, strengthen international maritime cooperation and exchanges between countries, and promote the harmonious development of regional oceans. The China Scholarship Council is responsible for the enrollment and daily management of this marine scholarship.

 

2. Applicant qualifications

2.1 Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens of South China Sea, Indian Ocean, Pacific Ocean, and island countries, as well as developing countries in Africa and America, and be in good health;

2.2 Applicants must apply for a master's or doctorate in marine-related majors; personnel engaged in marine-related industries will be given priority;

2.3 Applicant's academic qualifications and age requirements (as of September 1, 2021 ):

(1) Master's degree students: Bachelor degree or above, under 40 years old;

(2) Doctoral students: Master's degree or above, under 45 years old.

 

3. Admissions Major

Our school has a deep accumulation of marine disciplines and is the birthplace of China's marine scientific research and education. Marine science is a national first-level key discipline and was selected into the national "double first-class" construction discipline list. The Institute of Ocean and Coastal Development, the College of Ocean and Earth, the College of Environment and Ecology, and the South China Sea Research Institute (School of Law) have all achieved good results in conducting marine-related theoretical and practical research and training high-level talents.

4. Scholarship period:

4.1 Master's degree students: 2 or 3 academic years, scholarship period 2 or 3 academic years;

4.2 Doctoral students: 4 academic years, scholarship period 4 academic years.

Note:

(1) If the Chinese level at the time of application does not meet the admission criteria of the Chinese-taught program of our school, and intends to supplement Chinese before major studies (ie "Chinese supplement"), the following requirements must be met when applying for the scholarship: Chinese supplement application for law majors Applicants must have achieved HSK 4 with a score of 180 or above; applicants for science and engineering majors must have achieved HSK 3 with a score of 180 or above. After one year of Han makeup, those who pass the examination before they join the professional learning.

(2) Scholarship recipients must participate in the annual review by the relevant scholarship management regulations. Those who pass the review can continue to apply or enjoy the scholarship for the next academic year. Those who fail the review will be suspended or disqualified from the scholarship. The specific annual review regulations and methods are The latest notice issued in the current year shall prevail.

 

5. Number of scholarships:

Ten are tentatively determined, and the details are subject to the official notification of the scholarship authority.

 

6. Scholarship content

6.1 Tuition;

6.2  accommodation on-campus or off-campus housing monetary subsidies (graduate students 700 yuan / month; PhD 1000 yuan / month);

6.3 The cost of living (Master 3000 yuan/month; Ph.D. 3500 yuan/month);

6.4 Comprehensive medical insurance premiums.

Note: Scholarship recipients are required to bear other expenses incurred in studying in China, such as round-trip international travel expenses, medical examination fees, on-campus accommodation deposits, utilities, teaching materials, etc.

February 1, 2021 - April 27

 

8. Application procedure

Applicants for the "Chinese Government Marine Scholarship Program" must apply for a master's or doctoral degree in our school and be accepted by our school before they are eligible to participate in the scholarship selection.

8.1 Eligible applicants need to log in to the China Scholarship Council "Study in China Management Information System"

Type of study abroad program: Type B; Xiamen University Accepting Agency Number: 10384 ) Submit the application information in Chinese or English, and print the "Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form" automatically generated by the registration system.

8.2 Login to "Xiamen University Online Registration System for Overseas Students"

Complete the online registration and upload a scanned copy of the "Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form" (signature of the applicant must be attached). There is no need to mail paper application materials.

Note:

(1) Applicants are responsible for the authenticity and completeness of the submitted materials. If the application materials are false or missing, our school will not accept them;

(2) Applicants should keep the telephone unblocked, and check the email and registration system regularly. Our office will keep in touch with the applicants according to the actual situation.

 

9. Selection process and results announcement

Our school will organize experts to comprehensively consider the applicant’s professional background, academic performance, work experience, language ability, academic ability, scientific research results, and tutor’s opinions, and select and select scholarship candidates from eligible applicants to report to our school’s international freshmen. The scholarship candidate selection workgroup and school leaders approve the list, and the list will be finalized by the Ministry of Natural Resources and the China Scholarship Council. The result of the scholarship is expected to be confirmed in early August and announced on our school’s international student enrollment information website.
