Xiamen University was founded in 1921 by the famous patriotic overseas Chinese leader Mr. Tan Kah Kee. It is the first university founded by an overseas Chinese in the history of modern Chinese education. 1. Introduction to Scholarship

To better promote the "Overseas Chinese Flag, National Glory" Mr. Tan Kah Kee's great achievements, inherit and carry forward the Jiageng spirit, attract and encourage more outstanding overseas Chinese students and students of Jimei alumni descendants from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan to study in Xiamen, Xiamen City The Tan Kah Kee Education Foundation has specially established the "Tan Kah Kee Scholarship". Our school is one of the enrollment colleges for this scholarship program.

 

2. Application conditions

2.1 Chinese Americans holding valid ordinary passports from countries along the "Maritime Silk Road" mainly include Southeast Asia, South Asia, West Asia, North Africa, and Europe along the route. Healthy body.

Note: Residents of Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan who come to China as foreign students to study for an undergraduate degree after immigrating to a foreign country must hold a valid foreign passport for more than 4 years (inclusive), and within the last 4 years (as of April 30, 2018) There is a record of actually living abroad for more than 2 years (the actual living abroad for 9 months in a year can be calculated as one year, subject to the entry and exit signatures).

2.2 Support "One China", be friendly to the home country, and abide by the laws and regulations of the Chinese government.

2.3  Applicant's academic qualifications and age requirements:

(1) Students applying for a bachelor's degree must obtain a high school graduation certificate or above, and in principle, the age should not exceed 30 years old;

(2) Students applying for a master's degree must obtain a bachelor's degree or above, and in principle, the age should not exceed 35 years old;

(3) Students applying for a doctorate must obtain a master's degree or above, and in principle, the age should not exceed 40 years old;

Note: Applicants who have received other scholarships and bursaries are not eligible for the Tan Kah Kee Scholarship.

4. Application procedure

Applicants for the "Tan Kah Kee Scholarship" must apply for the relevant major of our school and be admitted before they are eligible to participate in the scholarship selection.

After completing the online registration and downloading and printing the online newspaper, the "Xiamen University International Student Admission Application Form" is automatically generated. The registration fee is RMB 400, which is paid at the time of online registration and is non-refundable.

4.3 Mail scholarship application materials

5. Scholarship quota and funding content

5.1 The number of scholarships: undergraduates: 30; masters: 30-35; doctoral students: 3-5. The final funding quota of the scholarship will be adjusted by the Tan Kah Kee Scholarship Work Leading Group based on the actual application situation.

5.2 Scholarship funding content: including tuition, accommodation, living expenses, and insurance. The specific quota standards are as follows:

(1) Doctoral students: RMB 70,000/person/academic year (funding period is 3-4 years)

(2) Master's degree students: RMB 60,000/person/academic year (the funding period is 2-3 years)

(3) Undergraduate students: RMB 50,000/person/academic year (funding period is 4-5 years)

 

6. Scholarship review

The selection of scholarships follows the principles of openness, fairness, justice, and merit-based selection. Our school will select the scholarship candidates of our school based on the applicant’s academic performance, language level, academic ability, tutor’s opinions, recommendation letters, and comprehensive qualities, etc., and submit them to the Tan Kah Kee Education Foundation for centralized evaluation in mid-June. After review, Report to the Tan Kah Kee Scholarship Leading Group for final review to determine the final list of scholarship funding. The results of the scholarship will be notified to the winning students.

 

7. Annual assessment and management of award-winning students

Our school will conduct an annual assessment of the performance of scholarship winners during the academic period. Those who pass the academic year will continue to enjoy the scholarship for the next academic year, otherwise, their qualifications will be canceled.

After the award-winning students come to Xiamen to study, in principle, they are not allowed to change their schools, majors, or extend their study period. If there are special circumstances that really need to change majors, transfer schools, and extend the study period, the school must approve the approval of the school, and then the school can apply to the foundation. The change, transfer, or extension of the study period can only be approved by the foundation. Unauthorized change of major, transfer, or extension of the study period, and withdrawal or suspension of the scholarship will be canceled for a scholarship.
