1.Q: What type of university is Xiangtan University?

A: Xiangtan University was founded in 1958. It is a comprehensive national key university personally initiated by a generation of great man Comrade Mao Zedong. In 1978, the school was designated by the State Council as one of the 16 comprehensive key universities in the arts, sciences, and sciences.

A: There are 1551 full-time teachers in the school, and the proportion of teachers with senior titles or doctoral degrees exceeds 76%; the teachers with experience of studying abroad account for 25%.

6.Q: How should I go through the accommodation procedures for new students?

A:Freshmen must check-in at the reception of the Foreign Students’ Building. At the time of check-in into your dormitory, sign for confirmation on the Check-in and Check-out Sheet.

At the time of graduation, you must check-out at the reception desk after getting the Check-in and Check-out Sheet with the confirmation by the office of International Exchange center. You can deal with the final procedure of leaving the school by yourself.

 

 

7.Q: What should I do when the related facilities of the dormitory need to be repaired?

A:Please fill in the REPAIR BILL at the reception desk in detail (prefferably in chinese), the staff will come to your dormitory at the reserved time. You must take responsbility for any damage of the property or apartment. e.g. toilet logging, light bulb, destruction of the electrical appliances and other property such as chairs, bed, desk, door and window(the reception desk can help you to contact the staff for repair). Any damage caused to the appartment will be paid according to its original price/cost.

10.Q: Does the school provide free internet?

A:According to the rules of Xiangtan University, there is no free internet. You can fill in the application form at the reception and connect at your own expense, after obtainig permission from the office of International Exchange Center (the reception desk can help you to deal with it). Please pay the monthly fee at the reception, 30RMB/M .

 

 

11.Q: What is the accommodation fee for international students?

A:Self-expense students and Exchange students can have options with different facility dorms; for single room: 300RMB/M or 360RMB/M including TV and refrigerator. 560RMB/M for Double room(including TV and refrigerator); 760RMB/M for apartment (three rooms, including TV and refrigerator). The rent must be paid monthly.

Government Schalorship Students are exempted from paying the basic rent (300RMB) of a single room. If you choose a different option for a dorm, you must pay the difference.

 

 

12.Q: What should I pay attention to in the physical examination?

A:If you take the original Foreign Physical Examination Form, please certify it at the ITHC with the original documents of the physical examination form by yourself. (Tel: 0731 84721924 , 84718711) Otherwise, you must go to the ITHC for another physical examination by yourself on an empty stomach, with your passport and 3 photos. (Time: Monday to Friday morning 8:00-11:30 ) Physical Examination must be done within 15 days of enrollment.

 

 

13.Q: What materials do I need to prepare for the residence permit?

A:For Visa or Residence Permit, please go to the Bureau of Public Security of Xiangtan which is downtown by yourself. After filling in the VISA AND RESIDENCE PERMIT APPLICATION FORM OF ALIENS stick the PASSPORT photocopies (front page, visa page, latest entry stamp ), JW201 or JW202 (original and photocopy), ENROLLMENT DOCUMENT (original and photocopy), PHYSICAL EXAMINATION FORMS (original and photocopy) on it. Residence Permit Applications must be completed and turned in 30 days before termination of your visa otherwise you must be liable for any consequences.

 

 

14.Q: How to get to the school?

If you arrived by train in Changsha, you transfer bus to Xiangtan City in the Changzhutan Bus station(长株潭汽车站) near the railway station (less than10 minutes for walk ), then take a taxi (cost less than RMB 30) to Xiangtan University or take bus Number 6 to Xiangtan University.

If you arrived by plane in Changsha airport, you transfer bus to Xiangtan City (湘潭)at the airport, then take a taxi (cost less than RMB 30) to Xiangtan University or take bus Number 6 to Xiangtan University.

A: (1) Copy of valid ordinary passport of foreign student;

(2) "Visa Application Form for Foreign Students Studying in China" (JW202 Form);
(3) "Foreigner Physical Examination Record" (only those who come to China to study for more than 6 months <including 6 months>);
(4) A copy of the "Admission Notice" of the applying school;
(5) An academic certificate equivalent to a Chinese high school graduation;
(6) Academic transcript;
(7) Certificate of no criminal record

 

 

17.Q: What materials should be submitted by master and doctoral students?

A: (1) Copy of valid ordinary passport of foreign student;

(2) "Visa Application Form for Foreign Students Studying in China" (JW202 Form);
(3) "Foreigner Physical Examination Record";
(4) A copy of the "Admission Notice" of the applying school;
(5) Proof of the highest academic qualifications and academic transcripts;
(6) Recommendation letters from two professors or associate professors;
(7) Personal learning plan;
(8) Certificate of no criminal record.
