Zhejiang Normal University is a comprehensive provincial key university featuring teacher education. Its predecessor was Hangzhou Teachers College. It was established on April 16, 1956, with the approval of the Ministry of Education. In 1958, it was upgraded to Hangzhou Teachers College. In 1962, Hangzhou Normal University merged with Zhejiang Institute of Education and Zhejiang Institute of Physical Education and changed its name to Zhejiang Normal University. In 1965, Zhejiang Normal University moved from Hangzhou to Jinhua, and in 1985 it was renamed Zhejiang Normal University. In 2000, 2001, and 2004, Zhejiang Finance School, Zhejiang Preschool Normal School, and Jinhua Railway Driver School were merged one after another. By 2015, the school selected the first batch of key construction universities in Zhejiang Province, in 2020 was named the second "National Civilized Campus", is composed of Jinhua (Campus), Hangzhou (text of the Second Campus, Xiaoshan campus), Lanxi three campuses, 19 It consists of three colleges.

1. School running profile (data as of March 2021 )

International exchanges and cooperation continue to advance. The school has established cooperation and exchange relationships with more than 280 higher education institutions or educational institutions in more than 60 countries and regions on 5 continents and established inter-school student exchanges with more than 70 foreign (overseas) universities. The project was selected as the construction unit of "Zhejiang Top Ten Foreign Cooperation Units" and "Zhejiang Internationalized Universities with Characteristics". The school is the "Foreign Education Aid Base" of the Ministry of Education, the "China Foreign Aid Research Base for Basic Education" of the Ministry of Commerce, and the "China-ASEAN Education and Training Center" of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education. Six Confucius Institutes have been established overseas, and the Ministry of Education has been approved to establish the China-South Africa Humanities Exchange Research Center, the Confucius Institute African Research and Training Center, and the Zhejiang Confucius Institute Teacher Selection and Training Center.
